Jacob James Otherbull, Ho’e’sta’o’ no’ ‘e, (Fire Staff), went to join his sisters, Martika Otherbull and SJ (Sarah Josephine) Otherbull on November 14, 2021.
He and Athena Whiteman are the parents of Nadonis Taye, Jacobe Atlas Clyde, Atreyo Cole and Kyrie Rayne. He was also an uncle to many nieces and nephews; Tayegenna Emma Lee Whistling Elk being his tiniest and craziest niece. His sisters Jolynn Reann and Joni Jo were his main backups along with his brothers, Emmanuel Taye, Jonathan, Laymond, Justin, J Man, and of course bruh, Micah Allen. Alonzo and Delcey followed right after being his little brothers.
He was born October 21, 1991in Hardin, MT. to Arbutus Red Woman and Morton Otherbull Jr. Waiting for his grand entrance were his big sisters Jolynn, Martika and Tina and big brother Curtis Elkshoulder Jr. He grew up in Lame Deer and attended school here as well as Billings, MT. and Arapaho Charter in Riverton, WY. Jake loved being with family especially enjoying the little people. He was a great Father, Brother, Son, Uncle and Grandson. He loved his Grandfather Morton Otherbull Sr. immensely. You knew when something was really funny, he would hold his hand up to his mouth and tilt his head back. He loved to debate (argue) but also loved to joke around. He will be missed by all and remembered as “Bozie” to the ones who were very close to him.
Jake is survived by his Mother, Arbutus Red Woman, Father, Morton Otherbull Jr., life partner Athena Faye Whiteman, Grandmothers Bertha Otherbull, Rebecca Stops, Maggie Risingsun, Rose Backer, Mae Whistling Elk and Lanelle Ballard. Sisters Jolynn Otherbull (Myron), Joni Jo Threefingers (Dieter), Toni Lee Freemont, Marty Lynn (Chino) Runsabove, Angel Barrus, Daleana and Shalena Otherbull. Brothers, Emmanual Whistling Elk (Bernice), Justin (Sam), Laymond (Jenna), Jonathan (??), JayShaun, Jordan (Jimmy), Curtis (Lindi) Elkshoulder Jr., Todd Elkshoulder, Hunter Barrus, Antoine Threefingers, Reno Spang, David Guzman, Alonzo and Isaiah Otherbull. Uncles, Vernon Otherbull, Marty Otherbull, Wes Stops Jr., Clyde (Sarah) Redwoman, Anthony, John (Sharon), Judas Threefingers and Manuel Redwoman. Aunts, Lillian (Daniel) Big Man, Alice Otherbull, Joyce, Jolene Threefingers, Cathy (Vince) Flores, Williamette Rising Sun, and Parmalee Baker.
Preceding him in death are his Great Grandparents Jim & Margaret Otherbull, Grandfather Morton Otherbull Sr., Aaron, Ludall Otherbull, Byron Otherbull and Eugene Redwoman. Grandmothers Josephine Whistling Elk, Lillian Threefingers, Isabelle Otherbull-Clubfoot. Also his Great Grandmother Sarah Yellowfox, Aunt Judy Threefingers and sisters Martika and SJ Otherbull and Tina Threefingers as well as his Niece Spring Littlewhirlwind. Uncle Richard Whistling Elk, and Lucian Rising Sun.. Aunts: Iris Whistling Elk, Rose Redwoman and Blossom Soto and Jamie Littleboy.
His family is very large and includes Otherbull, Whistling Elk, Redwoman, Threefingers, Killsnight, Braidedhair, Tallbull, Whitedirt, Yellowfox, Hill, Medicine Horse, Horn, Stops, Backer, Risingsun, Wall, Real Bird, Reed, Birdinground, Horn, Bear Below, Adams, Bends, Nomee, Goes Ahead, Long Soldier and the list goes on and on.
If we forgot to mention anybody, please forgive us in our time of grief as we have so much on our minds and it was not intentional.

Wake is scheduled for Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mennonite Church in Lame Deer, MT. with funeral services Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with Joe Walksalong Jr. officiating. He will be laid to rest in Lodge Grass, MT next to his beloved Grandfather Morton Otherbull Sr.
Meal will follow at Mennonite Church afterwards.
