June 12, 1959 – November 21, 2018

James Todd Bennett, age 59, of Glendive passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City.

Jim was born in Glendive, Montana on June 12, 1959, the son of Johnny and Jean (Ritchey) Bennett. He grew up and attended schools in Glendive, graduating from Dawson County High School in 1977.  Following his schooling, he went right to work on the family farm near Glendive which was his true love.  He married Sally Dietrich in 1989 in Glendive, Montana.  Jim loved spending time at the cabin on Fort Peck Lake, enjoying a few beers and spending time with friends and family.  Jim could fix anything.  He loved to tinker on old vehicles, especially his ’67 Belvedere.   Jim and Sally enjoyed to travel, especially to Las Vegas to the National Finals Rodeo and to celebrate their 20 year anniversary.  He adored animals, especially his passel of cats.  Jim was a kind and humble man who was liked by everyone.  He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.  Making cheese balls were a delicacy during Christmas given to friends and family.  He was proud to be a two-time Exalted Ruler for the Glendive Elks Lodge.

Jim is survived by his wife Sally, three brothers: Gary and Renee, Terry and Linda, Dave and Kari. Brothers and Sisters-in-law: Bob Dietrich, Paul and Jackie Dietrich, Sandy and Gary Koffler, Tom Dietrich, Susan and Dean Schnell, Fred and Wendie Dietrich.

Nieces and Nephews: Heidi, Bryan & Lacie, Lindsay & Rob, Johnny, Dawn, Amy & Brian, Adam & Mary, Brian & Mariah, Scott & Annette, Chad, Shawn & Danielle, Jeff, Brad, Steve & Leticia, Denise & Ryan, Ben & Christine, Debi & Nick. Numerous great nieces and nephews: Special friend Lee Ann. He was preceded in death by his parents, uncle: Robert Bennett, niece Dani and nephew Dustin, and his best buddy Skip.

At Jim’s request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. A family & friends gathering will be planned in the Spring. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.

Sally, Please accept my sincere condolences in the loss of Jim, although I did not know him well- I know he was your world. We often talked of the struggles he had with his health, way more then any one person should have to go through. Jim is at peace and pain free now, I am holding you close in thought and prayer. Sincerely, Mary Jo

Dear Sally, Gary, Tom, David and families,
I was so shocked to read about Jimmy as he will always be to me. I can remember when he was born and and the thoughts would he be the family daughter to spoil. I think we were all a bit disappointed he wasn’t the little girl, but he was loved and just rounded the number to an even 4 boys. I remember getting to baby sit him one day at the swimming pool, his allergy problems when little and his speech therapy. That little guy, grew into a pretty big guy, and always seemed so happy driving the combine, and trucks during harvest. Always seemed so laid back with not a care in the world. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this sad time. I share in your loss.
