James Edmond Cahill, age 79, of Miles City passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City.
Jim was born in Miles City, Montana at his grandmothers home on February 12, 1928, the son of Arthur and Grace (McMullin) Cahill. He attended schools in Miles City and graduated in 1946 but he left to play triple A baseball in March of his senior year. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers and Cleveland Indian baseball organization for three years. He then returned to Miles City where he worked for Regans Plumbing and Heating for a short time. Jim married Mary Ann Ideker on November 4, 1950 in Baker, Montana. Jim later worked for the Highway department for 30 years, retiring in 1989.
Jim is survived by his wife Mary Ann Cahill of Miles City, MT; three sons: Don (Shirley) Cahill of Laurel, MT; Tom (Karen) Cahill of Bozeman, MT; and Doug (Shelly) Cahill of Miles City, MT; a daughter, Cathleen (Dan) Johnson of Redding, CA; a brother, Charles Cahill of Tuscan, AZ; six grandchildren: Kevin, Carrie, Kellie, Ryan, Tanner and Torrie; and a great grandchild, Kyle Cahill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Phyllis Volk.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will be held in the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City. Condolences may be made to the family by visitingwww.stevensonandsons.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Miles City Youth Baseball Team or to the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center.
