James Devine

Visitation: Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.

Funeral Service: Friday, December 4, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Smith West End Chapel in Billings.

Graveside Service: Family and friends will meet at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. to proceed to the Custer County Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. burial.

Jim Devine, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at his home on Pryor Creek surrounded by his family.

The son of Lyle and Ethel (Lysne) Devine, Jim was born on May 8, 1927 in South St. Paul, Minnesota. As a child he attended school in Billings and on Pryor Creek. Jim married Betty Rask on October 13, 1946. They made their home in Miles City until 1967 when they moved to Billings. Jim worked with his father in the family livestock order business. Jim was a family man, a horseman, and a leader in the livestock industry. Throughout his life he loved the outdoors.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his adoptive mother, Jean Devine; a sister, Helen Eckert; and an infant brother, Billy. Survivors include Jims loving wife of 63 years, Betty; son Bill (Susan); daughter Deana (Gary) Peterson; daughter Katherine (Richard) Olson; five grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; sister Marjorie (Robert) Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Smith West End Chapel in Billings. Family and friends will meet at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. to proceed to the Custer County Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. burial. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
