In Memory Of

James “Jimmy” Soldierwolf, age 53, of Lame Deer

December 28, 1970 – May 22, 2024

James “Jimmy” Kenneth SoldierWolf Sr.

Aenoheeve’haohtse “Flying Hawk”

Jimmy was born December 28th, 1970, to Marvena SoldierWolf and Maynard Limberhand in Crow Agency, MT. He lived most of his younger years on the west side of Lame Deer. Jimmy attended school in Lame Deer and later receiving his GED. Growing up, he spent a lot of time with his grandma Florence Harris. He loved hanging out with his cousins and was the only child for many years. He was his mom’s sidekick.

Jimmy was blessed to grow up around a lot of his grandmothers- Grandma Kinzel, Grandma Florence, Grandma Julia, Grandma C.

Jimmy comes from big families, the Harris family, Kinzel family, Limberhand family. So that meant he has a lot of relatives and had to seek a partner that wasn’t from the rez. His first son John was born to him and Jocelyn LittleBoy. Jimmy hung around in the Billings area where he met Angela Williams. Together they had two sons, James ‘Jimmy’ Jr. and Joseph.

Upon returning to the reservation, he had an aneurysm which limited him physically but not mentally. Although he was not able to do a lot of things, he still had his sense of humor and his love for everyone. One of his favorite past times was going down to Charging Horse Casino. There was no stopping him even if he had to hitchhike. He was a daily customer there and knew everyone very well. That’s where he got his name “The Flash” or “Dollar Jimmy.”

Jimmy was a very simple man. It didn’t take much for him to enjoy life. If he had his cigarettes, a few dollars in his pocket and a doobie, he was set.

In 2017, he lost the love of his life Hannah Beth Russell which broke his heart. He talked of her often and how much she brought joy to his life and that he would see her again one day. Nine months ago, he lost his mother Marvena. That was hard on him, and he sure missed her every day. He often talked about how much his mother meant to him and how much he missed her. Now they are reunited.

Jimmy is proceeded in death by his mother Marvena, brother Steven Littlewhiteman, and sister Vicki Onebear.

Jimmy is survived by his father Maynard (Ursula) Limberhand of Box Elder, MT, his sons John LittleBoy of Ashland, James Jr of Oregon, Joseph of Billings and daughters Chantel Bearchum and Rae-Lynn Williams both of Oregon. His siblings Stephanie Littlewhiteman and Stanley Littlewhiteman. His aunts Lazona Harris, Alfreda Heart, Rennie Whiteman-Pena, Doris Limberhand, Joyce Knowshisgun, Rosalie Tallbull. His Uncles Manford SoldierWolf, Dennis Limberhand, Gary Lightning. His bros Walter Whistlingelk and Joseph Waters and homegirl Contessa Shoulderblade.

His extended families, Harris, SoldierWolf, Waters, Walkslast, Twentystands, Fisher, Hisbadhorse, Twotwo, Ewing, Elliot, Killsnight, Gleason, Limberhand, Whiteman, Kinzel.

We would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Charging Horse Casino staff and patrons for welcoming Jimmy and being his favorite place to hang out.

We have a large family and would like to apologize if we missed anyone during our time of grief.

Stephanie and Stanley, I am so sorry for the loss of your older brother. You have many memories of him and he was with you all your lives. Now he has gone home to be with Marvena whom he missed very much. Your memories will bring him back as well as your mom and brother Steven. May the Creator bless you with peace and comfort.
