James Jones

Visitation: will be held onWednesday, December 22, 2004 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City

Funeral Services: will be held Thursday, December 23, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Miles City

Interment: will follow in the family lot of the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City

James Loren Jone's, age 89, of Miles City passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2004 at Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City.

James was born in Maryville, Missouri on May 13, 1915, the son of Loren and Bertie (Wood) Jone's. He moved with his family to the Knowlton area where he attended country schools. His father passed away before he was born and he was raised by Bertie and his step-father Harry Woodruff. He worked for the CCC Camp and also delivered coal in Miles City. Jim married Olga Seteren on March 11, 1938 at Fort Peck, MT. They lived in Miles City where he drove a truck; hauling coal and gas for Babcock & Lee before buying his own truck. They moved out to the family ranch at Ismay in 1966 and lived there until he retired in 1979. They then moved back to Miles City but Jim continued traveling out to the ranch to help out.
Jim liked to fish, hunt, play cards, and enjoyed visiting and being around his family. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anybody. Jim was a cowboy at heart and loved rodeos and western movies. He was a member of the Eagles and the Moose Lodge.

His family would like to thank Dr. Beeson, Dr. Vadheim and all the nurses and staff at the Holy Rosary Health Center and extended care for everything you did for Jim.

Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years, Olga Jone's of Miles City, MT; a son, Jerry Jone's and his wife Shari of Billings, MT; a daughter, Sharon Diede of Fruita, CO; a sister, Mildred Boyer of Kalispell, MT; five grandchildren: Craig, Scott and Kent Jone's, Doug Diede and Lori Diede Ladd; six great grandchildren: Sarah Dillon, Matthew, Hiliary, Lindsey, and Rachel Jone's, and Lauren Ladd; one great great grandson,Sylas Dillon; a special sister-in-law Palma Hobbs of Miles City, MT, specials nieces, Carol Kirkpatrick and VernaSluder of Tennessee, special friends and neighbors, Dennis and Fritzy Hafla and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: Vern Jone's and Leslie Jone's.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 23, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Miles City. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City.
