James Williams died on Tuesday, August 26, 2003 at his home in Gillette, Wyoming of natural causes.
Leon Williams was born on March 3, 1922 in Rozet, Wyoming to William J. and Irene (Garrett) Williams. He was raised and educated in Rozet and graduated from high school in 1942. He entered the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the U.S.S Indianapolis, John W. Thompson. After his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to Gillette, where he met and married Helen Schneider. He began working with his father drilling water wells. In 1958, he opened Leons Repair Shop which he operated until 1972. He worked as a contract welder until 1977, when he began working for Farmers COOP, where he was employed until his retirement in 1984. He loved to travel. He wasnt afraid of hardship or hard work and he could always find something to joke and laugh about. He especially enjoyed his family and never met a stranger.
Mr. Williams is survived his wife Helen of Gillette, WY; sons, James A. Williams of Gillette, WY; Larry J. Williams of Austin, TX; daughter Donna Findley of Whidbey Island, WA; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Kenneth W. and Robert E. Williams and one sister, Sylvia Crosby.
Funeral Services for James Leon Williams will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 30, 2003 at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette, WY. Visitation will be held from 4-7 P.M. on Friday, August 29, 2003 at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery following the Funeral Services.
