James Love, age 71, of Miles City passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at his home in Miles City.
James was born in Miles City, Montana onSeptember 24, 1933, the son of Paul and Dorothy (Kean) Love. He attended Sacred Heart School and Mount Angel in Oregon. He enlisted in the United States Army where he served for 12 years and was discharged as sergeant. While in the service, Jim served as a medic and operated a Browning automatic rifle. He served in Korea and was taken as a Prisoner of War. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Miles City where he worked as a police officer. He later moved to Washington where he attended Grays Harbor College and received his Masters Degree in Speech Therapy at Central Washington College, working in Los Angeles Letterman Army Hospital as a speech therapist, moving to Ellensburg, Washington where he ranched. He also worked in E.N.T. Clinic. James married Noreen Winterowd in 1979, in Walla Walla, Washington, making Walla Walla their home until moving to Miles City where he went to work for the Miles City School District as a speech therapist for eighteen years. James retired in 1991, and continued to make Miles City his home. James was a member of the VFW, Sacred Heart Church, and the American Legion.
James is survived by his wife, Noreen Love of Miles City, MT; two sons: Patrick Love of Prosser, WA; and Mathew Love of Powell, WY; three daughters: Ann Love of Hartland, VT; Nechia Love of Miles City, MT; and Laura Love of Moscow, ID; a brother, Paul Love of Olympia, WA; two sisters: Beverly Stillwell of Shelton, WA; and Barbara Russell of Lacey, WA; eleven grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Patrick, and a sister Shirley.
A Vigil service will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 27, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. Rite of Committal will follow in the Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Miles City with full military honors provided by Post #1579 Honor Guard.
