James "Pete Leroy Fitch, born March 30th 1952, son of Fred and Pauline (Eskew) Fitch, passed away Sunday, March 7th in Gillette Wyoming after a short illness.
Pete attended rural grade school and Garfield County High School, in Jordan, where he was an excellent athlete, especially in track and field. Pete was a jack of all trades; he worked as a ranch hand, on sheep shearing crews, as a farrier, as well as in the oil fields, in Wyoming. In Petes early years he was a rodeo clown also, (where his days as a track and field athlete really paid off.)Pete enjoyed being out and about and visiting with those he came across, friend or stranger he would sit and visit for hours. If there was a horse anywhere around he was in the corral with them or in the pasture, it didn't matter to Pete. He was an avid solitaire player, he always had a deck of cards handy, and if you stopped by for a visit hed play you a game of cribbage. Most of all Pete just loved being in the great outdoors with the fresh air, sunshine and horses.
Pete is survived by his family: daughter Jaimie Hoffmann of Littleton CO, son Casper Fitch of Rapid City SD, daughter Kandi K. Murray (Mike) of Sheridan WY, brother Monte Fitch (Dianna) of Jordan MT, brother Bob Fitch (Cindie) of Huntley MT, sister Sue Muri (Larry) of Miles City MT, sister Sally Ness (Curt) of Billings MT, his nieces and nephews and companion Carol Fitzlaff.
Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Pauline Fitch, his brother John Fitch, sister in law Carla Fitch, nephew Justin Fitch, niece Ashley Fitch, and companion Kathy Voiles.
Petes ashes will be spread by the family over memorial weekend at the Fitch ranch. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in trusted of the arrangements.
