DUTTON, JAMES R., “FRITO” – 1948-2018 – On Tuesday, April 24, an avid stock-market watcher lost his battle with cancer. On the news of Frito’s passing, stock prices fell sharply however it is anticipated the market will return to average prices soon.
Frito took fashion cues from no one. His signature every day look was all his: a tank-top with the latest logo, his saggy ole Bermuda shorts worn on his hips often purchased in bulk at Costco and old worn out flip flops often paired with a sweat-stained ball cap. He spent a lot of time enjoying a cold one with his buddies, educating the crew at coffee, and walking his rescue dog, Finnegan.
Frito’s most talked about careers were with Frito Lay where he worked and drove his truck for 25 years. He made a multitude of friends in the surrounding communities as he earned his way to retirement. He also chauffeured Forsyth School teams to a multitude of activities. He especially enjoyed the long drives up to Kalispell. He loved being with the kids and being a “Dogie”. Frito enjoyed being able to travel to distant places with his wife and enjoyed traveling to build relationships with his grandkids.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 25 years Sheila, his daughter Denise (Thomas), and Sheila’s children Paul, Whitney, Johnna (JC), Kathy (Mike), Damon, Misty (Willie), and Brandy (Charlie) and all his grandchildren Cynthia, Korbin, Madison, Michael, Melissa, Danielle, Chasmine, Ryan, Marshall, Elena, Marissa, Brady, and Isabella.
While his whole family is deeply saddened by Grandpa’s passing, there is a rumor floating around that he told some the nurses at Billings Clinic that this was all just an elaborate plan to get out of mowing the lawn. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
On a serious note, we would like to extend our most sincere thanks to Dr. Jesus Fabregas and the staff at Billings Clinic as well as the staff at Highgate at Billings for the amazing care given and the compassion shown in Jim’s final days. A Family to receive friends will be from 4-6 P.M. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth. Funeral Services will also be at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home on May 4, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. As per his wishes, a “Praise Frito Coffee/Cookie Party” – a celebration of his life — will be held after the Graveside Service on May 4, 2018 at 12:00. The address for Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home is 245 Westwind Lane or P.O. Box 374, Forsyth, MT, 59327. We would really like to share some of your best memories of Frito at the “Praise Frito Party”. So please take a moment and share your memories with us on-line at www.StevensonandSonsFuneralHomes.com. As expressions of sympathy the family would appreciate donations to any cancer research fund of your choice.

He was a one of a kind in a good way!! He always portrayed the tough grumpy old man but that was not him in reality. He was just a nice guy plain and simple. We will all miss Frito!! Prayers for his family!!

I will miss his humor and his raucous laugh whenever he won at 10 -1/2 for coffee. He certainly got a world education thru all his traveling and shared the memories with his friends. He certainly had a good heart.

I add my condolences to Bill’s…Jim always give a smile and often a hug, or a wave as he passed by on his red scooter. He was one of a kind with such a big heart who enjoyed people, life, and doing his own thing. Sheila, please know we care, and will support you . Cheryl Schwarzkoph

My dear friend Sheila and family:
I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. Having lost my amazing husband and father, I can well understand the depth of your loss. My heart goes out to you. At times like this, we realize just how much it means to have faith, family and caring friends. Hope these blessings will be your strength during this time of sadness. His love made you happy. May you treasure those memories. His love gave you strength. May you trust it will still be there to get you through each day. His love is yours forever…may its lasting beauty comfort your heart today and always. Wishing you the blessing of memories and the comfort of love each time you remember…reminding us in small unexpected ways that we have love and been loved. Good memories and sweet stories–they come into our lives like pennies from heaven. Just do whatever you need to do to get through this. (Because you WILL get through it.) Take it day by day or even minute by minute if you need to . You are all going through a lot right now, but it won’t always be this way. In the meantime, there’s a world of people right here to support you. As you mourn his loss, know that warm loving thoughts are with you. I know well how your life has changed, but not the love you two shared. Wishing you hope and strength in the days ahead. The connection you shared was strong, beautiful and will go on forever. Thinking of you and wishing you peace. My deepest most sincere condolences.
