Funeral Mass: Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City.
Interment: Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Miles City with full military honors provided by VFW Post 1579.
James Reyes Jim Salazar, age 57, of Miles City passed away Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker.
Jim was born on April 16, 1952 in Forsyth, Montana, the son of John Castro and Frances (Rangel) Salazar. He attended Kircher School and graduated from CCDHS. In 1972, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served at Brownsville Naval Air Station as a Airfame Mechanic for four years. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Miles City where he worked for the Miles City V.A. Hospital and went to work for the Burlington Northern Railroad in 1979, becoming the locomotive Engineer until the time of his death. Jim loved to go to rodeos, watching sporting events, his pickups, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his mother, Frances Salazar Miller of Miles City, MT; two brothers: John Steven (Kathleen) Salazar of Miles City, MT; and Thomas Daniel (Darla) Salazar of Billings, MT; two sisters: Patricia L. (Monte) Herzog of Ismay, MT; and Cecelia Sis R. (Steve) Mills of Boyes, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. A Vigil service will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Miles City with full military honors provided by VFW Post 1579.
