James (Jim) W. Seekins, age 86, of Miles City, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Holy Rosary Residential Living Center in Miles City.
Jim was born April 21, 1930 in Forsyth, Montana, the son of Ray Livingston and Helen (Scoles) Seekins. He was raised, and attended schools, in Forsyth and Colstrip. In 1952 he married Virginia Logan McCuistion. Jim entered the U.S. Navy March 25, 1952 and was discharged March 12, 1957, having served in Alaska and Asia.
After his discharge, Jim returned to the Forsyth and Miles City area where he was involved in building construction. Jim married Maxine Trafton Rainey on August 20, 1976 in Miles City, Montana.
Jim was a member of the Cowtown Squares Dancing Club, Miles City Elks Lodge #537, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion Club and the Miles City VFW Post.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Seekins of Miles City, Montana; his brother, Roy Seekins of Tucson, Arizona; his brother, George Seekins of Forsyth, Montana; his sister Margie Randall of Miles City, Montana; and his sister, Mildred Harris of Cut Bank, Montana.
Survivors include one step-son, Robie Rainey of Inverness, Florida; two step-grandchildren, Heather Albury (Dusty) of Norcross, Georgia and Sean Rainey of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two step-great grandchildren, Zoe Albury and Brock Albury; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eastern Montana Veterans Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com
