James Thompson

At Jims request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned

James Jim Thompson, age 78, passed away on Monday June 30, 2003 at his home in Gillette due to long term illness.

Jim was born in Rufus, Oregon on October 26, 1924, the son of Glenn and Jean Matheson Thompson. He served in the Navy during World War II. In 1959, Jim moved to Gillette and worked in the oil fields. In 1969, he purchased Jays Oilfield Service Company and changed the name to Thompsons Service Inc. Jim and his family ran the company until 1990 when he retired.

Jim loved to travel, fishing and Deadwood slots.

Jim is survived by his widow, Geneva of Gillette, two step-sons: Joe Tucker and Bud Shane of Gillette and one daughter, Patricia Masters of Salem, Oregon, ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces . He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters, and one daughter, Jimi Burch of Salem, Oregon.

At Jims request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home of Gillette is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.stevensonandsons.com.

James Thompson

Funeral Service: Friday, May 13, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Miles City

Interment: will be held at a later date

James Quincey "Quie" Thompson, age 76, passed away Thursday, May 5th, 2005 in Miles City.

He was the 4th child born to Ethel (Carlson) and Ed Thompson on May 20th, 1928 in Terry, Montana. He spent most of his life living in Terry and Miles City though his younger rodeo days took him as far East as New York. Quie served in the Army during the Korean war from 1950 - 1952 and was honorably discharged from the reserves in 1956. He married Joyce Lambert of Baker in 1954 and they had two daughters, Roxi and Jamie. He was a rancher, worked stockyards, ran a sheep sheering crew, was Deputy Sheriff of Prairie county from 1986 - 1990. He also managed the V.F.W. post 1579 in Miles City.

What gave him the most joy was his guitar and fiddle music, a good card game, the challenge of a spirited horse and the people who shared the pleasures with him. He never met a stranger and his legacy will live on through the countless friends and family he leaves behind.

He is survived by his daughters and their families; Roxi and Bob Davis of Belgrade MT and Jamie and Gary Schaub of Whitehall MI. His grandchildren are Rob and Amber Davis, Shane and Cody Anderson, Danielle Schaub and great-granddaughter Sydney Anderson. He is also survived by his sisters Addie Roberts and Jean Weber, brother Dell and his wife MaryAnn, brother-in-law George Kohone's, numerous nieces and nephews and longtime companion Kathy Madden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joan Kohone's, brothers-in-law Jim Roberts and A. John Weber and nephews John Paul Weber and Jeff Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VFW Post 1579.Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 13, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Miles City. Interment will be held at a later date. Condolences may be made to the family by visiting www.stevensonandsons.com.
