James Edward Trogden Jr., age 53, of Miles City passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at his home in Miles City.

Jim was born on August 8, 1955, in Owensboro, Kentucky, the son of James Edward Sr & Sarah (McCall) Trogden. He graduated from Davis County High School in 1973. After graduation, he joined the Army and became a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. He served one tour in Vietnam. In 1979 while serving in Germany he met and married Irene Lilienthal from Jordan, Montana. They moved to Billings, Montana in 1981 when Jim became an Army Recruiter. He transferred to the one man recruiting office in Miles City in 1982. More than meeting his own monthly quota, he often enlisted enough people to carry half the state of Montana. He was awarded many top honors from the Western Area Recruiting Command. After 11 years of service to Uncle Sam and much sole searching, he decided to open his own upholstery shop. He had grown up helping his dad at Whitehall Furniture Company. In 1983 Bluegrass Upholstery was founded. Last year he was so proud to have made it 25 years at his chosen profession. Jim loved to grow a garden and take care of his yard. He enjoyed hunting, raising pigs, butchering and making his own jerky and pepper sticks. Mostly he loved to fish. After a good day on the lake he would sit around the campfire playing the guitar and singing.

Jim is survived by his wife Irene Trogden of Miles City, MT; two sons, MMC James Edward (Julia) Trodgen III stationed on the USS John C. Stenus with the Navy; and HT2 Tyler Wayne Trogden stationed with the Navy out of San Diego, CA; two daughters: Sarah Rose Trogden of Miles City, MT; and Toni Marie Trogden of Miles City, MT; his parents, James Sr. and Sarah Trogden of Owensboro, KY; three brothers: Jeff (Anita) Trogden of Lenexa, KS; Mark (Dorothy) Trogden of Owensboro, KY; and Bill Trogden of Owensboro, KY; a sister Sandy Jackson of Lewisburg, KY; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Ann Trogden.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City with family receiving friends from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 23, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
