On Saturday, September 10, 2016, our Heavenly Father “Maheo”, received a glorious gift, James Walker Lamewoman, Blackbird “He’heeno”, walked along side of one of his best friends Stephan Killsnight, together they made their journey over the stars and into the next camp.
James, who was a beautiful Soul, full of light and laughter, was born on December 27, 2001, in Helena, Montana, to Billie Jayna Curley Walker and Melbourn Walker-Lamewoman. James enjoyed many activities, especially spending time with his family and friends, and playing video games. Nothing could compare to his gentle personality and his bright smile.
In 2010, James and his family moved back to the Northern Cheyenne Reservation and he attended Northern Cheyenne Tribal Schools, where he had just started his freshman year. James is cherished forever and will be missed by all his family, friends, and especially his best friends Charles, Derek Fields, Steven, Mychael, and Jason BigBack, of Busby.
James was preceded in death by his grandmothers Sandra Lamewoman, Laureen Bellrock, Laura and Shirley Walker; uncles: Daniel Lamewoman, and Robbie and Josh Burns; aunt Melissa Curley Blackwolf; and cousin Bryant TyJay Curley.
He is survived by his parents; siblings: Shochana (Colton) Little, Cholena “Yepa” Walker-Lamewoman, and Daniel Walker-Lamewoman; his first Niece Avery Russell; paternal grandfathers Rutherford “Rudy” Hisbadhorse Evans of Spokane, Washington, Sam and Charles Walker; paternal great-grandmother Velma Lamewoman-Walker, maternal grandparents: Billford Curley, Sr. and Georgia Ann Burns of Ashland; paternal grandmothers Tammy, Audrey and Neela Walker; aunts: Stacie (Ed) Joiner, Phyllis Curley, Melanie (Frank, Jr.) Longjaw, Georgette (Wayland) Curley, Cassie Curley, Rhonda Plainbull-Curley, Cheyenne Bearchum, Bethany Lamewoman, Reisa, Jasmine, and Vivian Walker, and Tessa, Tavin, and Torren Curley; uncles: Rueben Bulltail, Stanley Walker, Delray and Calvin Lamewoman, Billford (Kaysee) Curley, Jr., and Casey (Meya) and Trevor Curley.
James came from a very large extended family including; Lamewoman, Walker, Curley, Rockroads, American Horse, Evans, Hisbadhorse, Seminole, Two Moons, Yellowrobe, Walksalong, Wolfname, Mast, Burns, Harris, Gress, Redfox, Whitecrane, Elkshoulder, Haugen, Spang, Bearchum, Rising Sun, and Russell. We sincerely apologize if we have left anyone out.
Joint wake services will be held for James and Stephen on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at 7:00 p.m., at the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Schools Gymnasium, and joint funeral services will be held at the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Schools in Busby on Friday, September 16, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. Burial for Stephen will be at the Tall Bull Family Cemetery, and burial services for James will be at the Lamewoman Family Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Willis Busenitz and Deacon Joe Kristufek. Please, join the families for a joint meal at the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Schools Cafeteria after the burials.

I am so sorry to read about your loss, it is always difficult to lose a loved one, but it is especially tragic to lose them at such a young age. Please take comfort in knowing that death is only a temporary part of life. (John 5:28,29) Although your time with James was far too short, you can have the hope of being reunited with him forever, under perfect circumstances. (Revelation 21:4) In the meantime, even though the pain may at times seem insurmountable, rest assured that God will give you the strength necessary to endure. (Psalm 94:17-19) Please accept my deepest sympathy and sincerest condolences.
