James Orval Westby was born July 19, 1926 to Adolph and Mable (Isakson) Westby. He attended school in Opheim. He served in the United States Army from 1949-1951. James served with the Dirty Dozen Tank Core 12th Tank Company in Anchorage, Alaska. He farmed northwest of Opheim on the family farm for a number of years then retired and moved to Miles City. His passion was cars. He passed away in his home June 15, 2018.
James is survived by his sister, Marcella Roots of Roseburg, Oregon, his brother Kermit (Vicki) Westby of Midland, Texas, sister-in–law’s Loni Westby Freese, Gretchen Westby and numerous nieces and nephews. His brothers Bud, Bill and Ronnie and sisters Neta Davenport and Jeanette Stellflug precede him in death.
James’s memorial service will be at the Eastern Montana State Veteran’s Cemetery in Miles City on July 16, 2018 at 1:00 pm. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.

Sorry to hear about Jim’s passing. I had many enjoyable cups of coffee with him. Also, many enjoyable dinners at the airport. O ya and the drives around town looking at cars and trucks. He once asked me about the tires on on of his trucks. I told him he wouldn’t have it long enough to worry about the tires. LOL he didn’t! RIP Jim!
