In memory of Jamie Marie Blackwolf-Whiteman, age 69, of Lame Deer, Montana
Sunrise on March 14th, 1955 Sunset on June 12th , 2024 to Sacred Hat Keeper James Blackwolf Sr. and Sarah Roundstone-Blackwolf.
She was known to us as Mom, Momma Auntie, Mama Smurf, Grandma x 1 2 3 Grand Great. Sister, Cousint, Niece, a best friend. She enjoyed being outdoors, hunting with family, fishing, camping, helping with ceremonies, supporting her nephews and brothers in the Sundance’s.
She worked with the police department as a dispatcher, security with IHS then with the EMS as a dispatcher, and finally as an EMT, where everyone came to know her. Due to her health, she went back to working as an EMS Dispatcher when she retired in May of 2023, and finally accepted it was time to sit back and enjoy life.
Jamie loved working for the EMS, all her stories were about that crazy ambulance crew. All the stuff she was asked to participate in she would. A Skit with the crew and they danced to “Bad to the Bone”. She was also a proud member of the “Fry Bread Queen’s. They were Famous reservation wide.
She was their Super EMT, eager to help. She was their Radio 3. She will always be Radio 3.
Jamie had a big heart; everyone called her Mom. She took everyone into her home. Even if you were a complete stranger. She would offer you a place to sleep and give you food to eat. Her husband Melton would often joke around when answering the phone “Jamie’s Rescue Mission, how may I help you?” then he’d get such a glare from her… “MELTON! KNOCK IT OFF!” and snatch the phone out of his hands. (Those that know her hubby, know he just loved getting on her nerves for the fun of it.)
Jamie met the twinkle of her eye at the Fourth of July powwow in 1973, Melton Roy Whiteman. They were married in 1974, the same year they were blessed with their first daughter Melanie. From this union they were blessed with 5 children, A set of twins who never made it to earth side. She always spoke of them twins.
She is preceded in death by her parents James Blackwolf Sr. and Sarah Roundstone-Blackwolf. Her sisters Florence and Wretha. Brothers Donlin McManus, Walter Blackwolf, Alfred Teeth, and James Blackwolf Jr.
Survivors are: Her many children, daughters Melanie (Jay) Parker, Laura Candy-Byrd, Priscilla Littlebear, Lillian (Daniel) Bigman, adopted daughters: Shirley (Tom) Skinner,
