Jane A. Ness, age 73, of Miles City passed on peacefully in her sleep on March 5, 2008, after a long illness in Colorado.
She was born May 23, 1934 in Hillsboro, ND, graduated from high school in New England, ND and moved to Miles City, MT to attend nursing school at the Holy Rosary Hospital, graduating in 1956. Family and community was everything for Jane, dedicated to her four girls as 4-H leader, sports mom, and everyone's family nurse. It's said she raised more than her own as a mom, mentor and friend to many. Jane was an avid bowler and inducted into the Montana Woman's Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1996. She spent more than 20 years as a surgical nurse caring for Montana veterans at the VA, retiring in 1994. After she retired, Jane spent several winters traveling with Lindy to visit her girls and friends around the country.
Surviving are her husband Lindy; daughters, Barbara Kalland and husband Kevin of Billings, Christal Ness of Helena, Colonel Leslie Ness of Colorado Springs, and Kimberley Ness of San Francisco; three grandchildren, Ryan, Leah, and Julia.
