Janet D. Sherer, age 72 of Jordan, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the Billings Clinic Hospital in Billings, with her family by her side.
Janet was born on August 21, 1946 in Jordan, MT. She was the daughter of Pete and Caroline (Schwindt) Ritter. She grew up in Jordan where she attended grade school and was a graduate of the Garfield County High School. Janet married Robert Graham in October of 1965. To this marriage they had two daughters: Debbie and Patty. Together they raised their family until 1975 when Robert fell ill and passed away later on. She later married Bill Sherer in 1981. To this marriage she had another daughter, Caroline. Janet worked in the Clerk & Recorders office for 27 years. She was elected as Clerk & Recorded in 2002. She remained working along with taking care of her husband Bill after he had a stroke for over ten years until November of 2017 when she was diagnosed with cancer. Janet was an avid member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jordan. She loved her flowers, her stuffed bears, traveling with Bill in the earlier years as well as taking time to have lunch with the ladies. Janet’s joy in her life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Janet was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband Robert Graham; brothers Donny Ritter and Edward Ritter; and a step son Billy Sherer.
She is survived by her husband Bill Sherer of Jordan; three daughters: Debbie (Claude) Keith of Bridger, MT and their children Clyde, Kasey (Andi) Crystal (Lex) and Codi (Travis); Patty Sewell of Jordan and her son Connor; Caroline (Jeremy) Heller of Williston, ND and their children Justin and Julie; her brother Robert Ritter of Miles City, her sister Pauline Abarr of Reno, NV; step daughters: Karen (Steve) Bertram of Texas, Kathy (Kenny) Patrick of Alabama, Kristina (Kevin) Train of Texas and Kathleen (Jim) Price of Texas; sister in law Evelyn Ritter of Jordan; seven great grandchildren: Tucker, Kade, Kasen, Emily, Wren, Roger and Lilian; and numerous step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the VFW Hall in Jordan, MT. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jordan, or to the charity of one’s choice.
