With humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the passing of Janice Kay Fortune from Covid complications.
Janice was born on May 6, 1957, in Quinn, South Dakota. At the time of her death on March 31, 2024, she resided in Vale, South Dakota.
Janice graduated from Custer County District High School in 1975 and attended Miles Community College where she received her registered nursing degree.
She started her career at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, Montana, as a surgical nurse, continued at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, and finished her career at Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana.
After retiring, Janie lived on a small farm doing all the things she loved to do. She loved quilting, gardening, watching old movies, having her chickens, kitties, horses, and getting up really, really early in the morning.
Janie had a dazzling smile, a sharp wit, a generous soul, and a devotion to her Lord and Savior. She will be deeply missed.
She was the beloved daughter of Vern and Wildene Fortune, sister of Susan Wells, Kathy Baugatz, Stacy Fortune, and Darcy Boggs, a niece, an aunt, and a cousin to many.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Wildene, her sisters, Shelly and Denise, and her brother Todd.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at The Parlor, 1806 Main St., Miles City, Montana.
Should you desire, memorials can be made in Janice name to “A Place for Meow”, in Sturgis, South Dakota, 2721 Johnson Ranch Rd, Rapid City, SD. 57703.
