In Memory Of

Jared Bankey, age 50, of Miles City.

February 18, 1975 – February 27, 2025

Jared Bankey, age 50, passed away on February 27, 2025 in Miles City.

Jared was born on February 18, 1975 to Eugene and Connie Bankey in Miles City, Montana. Jared was educated in the Miles City District Schools and graduated from CCDHS in 1993. After high school, he received his education at Mayville and played for the Mayville Comet football team. His second year of college he transferred to Western College in Dillon, Montana and played football for the Western College Bulldogs when they played for the NAIA Championship in Cincinnati, Ohio. Jared also received some education at Montana State University in Bozeman. Jared worked for the Bozeman Airport as a groundskeeper and at a bar in Bozeman while attending classes. Following his schooling, he returned to Miles City where he worked for AWARE, Mental Health, City of Miles City and as a varsity football coach and freshman basketball coach.

Football was the sport he put his heart into during the off season, looking and studying the players and plays of teams in certain situations during the game. To Jared, every player on the field was equally talented and he treated and coached them that way. He lived and breathed football. He loved his family and seeing young teenagers succeed. Jared was a member of the Elks and was a loyal knight.

Jared is survived by his parents, Eugene and Connie Mullin Bankey of Miles City, MT; brothers: Jeff M. (Maria) Bankey, Jamie M. (Ellyn) Bankey, Justin M. (Jamie) Bankey, nieces: Cassandra, Marrissa, Bella, Tessa, Sophia, Reggie, Jillian, Jasmyn, and adopted nieces of “Banks” Abby, Maggie, Jackie & family, Cristian & family and his close furry companions of 12 years Buddy and Mahto.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. A Rosary will follow at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. Rite of Committal will follow in the Elks section of the Custer County Cemetery with the BPOE rites. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eastern Montana Mental Health Care of Miles City in memory of Jared Bankey and sent to P.O. Box 1530, Miles City, MT 59301

This one hits hard, Jared was a great teammate and one of my best friends at CCDHS in fact my senior year, you saw me, you saw him. We even played college football together for one season, then as it always does life happens, and one year turns into 10, then 20 and we lost touch but he will always be in my heart. Rest in peace Bankey, when I see you again we’ll strap the pads on one more time, then get in your SAAB take a few mains. Condolences to his family

Big Geno, sweet Connie, Jeff, Justine and Jamie. Our deepest sympathy from our entire family.

This one hurts. We coached together for years. You helped me move, tear out carpet. If I asked you were there.
People would call me Bankey and you Stoner. My girls called you Uncle Bankey- later Banks. I think about the dinners, BBQs, card games at the in-laws. Tripoli- man that was fun.
The countless hour of watching football film and forcing Jerry Partridge to eat pizza for the first time in 20 years. Doing 100 miles an hour, with Boogie to get to Glasgow because we were late and didn’t want Rohloff and Partridge to be mad at us for being tardy to practice. Hours in the weight room and summers in the mosquito infested bowl, going over footwork and technique. Getting sunburnt at the Hawke camp in Dickenson. Getting Scooby snacks (AKA- cheeseburgers) before the games. Hiding chew in our socks so big Ed could sneak one before the game. Beau Laird telling you he was going to put a chin rest on that shovel you used to lean on. That goofy blue hat.
There is a giant hole in my family’s heart. Jodi and I loved you like a brother. My daughters are torn up.
You were loved and you will be missed. RIP Banks.
If the bears ever win the Superbowl I will pour one out for you.

Our deepest sympathies to the Bankey family. You blessed us with an uncle that never needed to be one. Thank you endlessly for sharing your family with ours. Jared was a beautiful spirit and this is a great loss for the community. His ability to empathize with kids and really understand them was unmatched. We are incredibly blessed to have known and grown up around him and even luckier to call him uncle Bankey. We will miss him so much from drives around Kinsey when mom went on a work trip to watching football in the living room with our dad. There is not a sound we will miss more than the sound of the front door opening and Jared shouting “Stones!”

    Rest in peace, Uncle Bankey.
