Jean Kathleen Martinez passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of March 10, 2017, in Hysham, Montana. Jean was brought into this world by John Lewis and Dorothy Jane Adams, on January 24, 1957. Her parents raised her in Hysham, where she attended schools and graduated from Hysham High School in 1975. As a child she was very active in the Hysham community. While she was in high school she met the love of her life, Ralph “Chico” Martinez. They dated throughout high school. After graduating high school, Jean married her high school sweetheart, in Ballantine, Montana. To this union came their two beautiful little girls, Brandy Ann and Shannon Marie.
Throughout the years, Jean worked various jobs, including: Double “E”, The Friendly Corner, DeCock Ranch, Groceries & More, and her most current place was Hysham Public School. Jean enjoyed life but truly loved spending time with her family. She loved cooking and spending time in both her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was fishing or working cattle or going on her long drives with her husband. She had a heart of gold and used her passion for cooking to cook for the senior citizens. She was always worried she wouldn’t have enough food for them. Someone once said “she could make a truck tire taste like a prime rib”.
Jean was preceded by: her father, John Lewis Adams; brother, Daniel Wayne Adams; and daughter, Shannon Marie Martinez.
Jean is survived by: her husband, Ralph Martinez of Hysham; daughter, Brandy Ann Crow, of Stanwood, Washington; mother, Dorothy (Church) Adams of Forsyth; grandson: Andrew (Jess) Bara of Hysham, Jacob Gilbert of Hysham, Domonick and Christian Crow of Stanwood, Washington; great granddaughter, Sophia Rose Bara of Hysham, sister in law, Kim Adams of Hysham, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shannon Marie Martinez; father, John Adams, and her brother, Dan Adams.

Jean was my very very best Dear Friend. Ever since we were little girls we were best friends. She had the best sense of humor no matter what the situation was. We always said we have to do more things together before one of us is gone. Well, we waited too long. I cried my eyes out yesterday when I found out of Jeans passing away. You will forever be in my heart and will never be forgotten. You are in a better place now and one day we will see one an other in heaven. I love you still my friend until we meet again. Love Janiece

Dorothy, if you get this message, I am so sorry, to lose a child. I cannot imagine. You are in my thoughts and prayers. So I used to work at the hospital and long term nursing facility. A long time ago I brought you a bible. And I worked in Physical Therapy for a couple of years too. I moved to Washington state or I would come visit you. Jean is my age, we were both still young. I didn’t get to know her but I spoke to her on the phone on occasion. This is a very sad time, but celebrate her life and remember she is in a better place now. Take care. Debbie Anderson

Jeannie, weenie with the meatball eyes…you’ve left us far too soon. Oh, the eyes, the eyes. so pretty unless she was suffering with allergies or mad about something (yes, she was all too human) One day a delivery guy came in the back of the store and asked for the woman with eyes like a ’57 Chevy.
