Family to Receive Friends: Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Funeral Service: Friday, May 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Graveside Service: Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery

Jean Lenora Nolan, age 84, of Miles City went to join the Lordon Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Holy Rosary Healthcare in Miles City.

Jean was born in Miles City, Montana on June 22, 1925, the daughter of Harvey and Pauline (Bannister) Viall. She grew up and attended schools in Miles City and graduated from Custer County District High School in 1945. Following graduation, she went to Dillon where she received her teaching certificate. Jean met the love of her life Raymond L. Nolan and they married May 6th, 1949 in Miles City. She started her teaching at Coalwood Country School and numerous other country schools until she settled at Rosebud School. Thenshe became Rosebud County Superintendent of Schools. She retired from teaching after 45 years in 1979. Jean spent 21 years taking summer school to receiver her Bachelors Degree in Teaching. In 1991, Jean and Ray moved into Miles City where she had lived since.

Jean served on the EMI Board for many years, Retired Teachers Association, Degree of Honor, The Rebeccas, Delta Cappa Gamma, Range Riders Reps, Trinity Lutheran Uremias Guild and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and would do anything she could for most anyone. She also liked being on the go and visiting with her numerous friends. She was said to be "the best cookie maker ever,"and always had some sweet treats in the house. Throughout her life she touched thehearts and lives of many.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Vicki Wuest of Miles City, MT; a brother, Harvey (Nadine) Viall Jr. of Cedar Rapids, IA; a sister, Donna Mae (Alex) Graff of Sun City, AZ; two grandchildren: Rayetta Schmidt of Miles City and LaShanda Wright of Miles City, MT; and four great grandchildren: Damon Wright, Koby Wright, Mikiya Wright and Nolan Schmidt.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Raymond.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City with family receiving friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in the Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
