In Memory Of

Jeannette M. Heide, age 86 of Circle.

April 25, 1935 – April 15, 2022

On April 15, 2022, Jeannette Mary (Ueland) Heide, age 86, of Circle, MT, passed away peacefully on Good Friday in her home of 67 years.  She went to be with Jesus just 15 months after the love of her life went to his eternal home.  She had told her grandkids that she felt she and grandpa would be apart for about the same amount of time they were apart when he was in the Army (18 months).  She spoke often of getting to be with grandpa again.

Jeannette was born on April 25, 1935, in Terry, MT to Christian & Bessie (Christiansen) Ueland. Jeannette’s dad passed away when she was 5 years old, so her older siblings, Ole, Hans, Bertha & Frank took her under their wings and helped raise her.  Her oldest brother Ole, was 17 when Jeannette was born!  She attended grade school in both Brockway, MT and Terry, MT. Jeannette moved with her mother to Circle where she graduated from high school in 1953.

Jeannette met Dale Heide in 1949 at Brockway Dairy Day when his sister, Darlene, introduced them.  Jeannette and Dale were married on December 15, 1954 shortly after he returned from the Korean War.  They made their home in Dawson County, starting out with one milk cow, Hereford cattle, and chickens.  Along with their 3 daughters, they worked together gardening, farming & raising cattle and sheep.

Dale & Jeannette enjoyed playing cards, dancing & bowling with friends and close-knit neighbors.  Jeannette loved her flowers and gardening and fed her family with the bountiful harvest of her gardens.  She was known for her great home cooked meals and always loved a good visit.  There were 3 food items she couldn’t be without – bacon, salt water taffy & a good cup of coffee!  She was a proud Norwegian, enjoying lutefisk and lefsa whenever possible.

Jeannette journaled every day documenting her daily life, ranch happenings, and the weather.  She had an old wives’ tale to fit any weather pattern.  She predicted when it would rain (90 days after a fog), creeks would run (when the owls were hooting up the creek), and when the winters would be tough (lots of berries on the trees)! Just recently she heard a meadow lark tell her she was a “pretty little girl”!  Grandma loved the eastern Montana countryside and was looking forward to seeing the runoff from the recent snow.

Her immediate and extended family were very important to her and she was proud of them all.  She loved family reunions and keeping in touch. She rarely missed a sporting event, class play, concert or county fair that her grandchildren were involved in.   She was a kind, gentle soul who loved her simple way of life and all her blessings from the Lord.  Jeannette was a member of the First Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary, Friendship Homemakers & a long time 4-H leader of the Ambitious Ants.  Grandma’s memory will inspire us to slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Heide, parents Christian & Bessie (Christiansen) Ueland, brothers Ole, Hans & Frank Ueland and sister Bertha Moline, a niece Lora Jensen, nephews Clint Ueland, Ron Ueland, Godson Arne Ueland, Charles Moline and Godson Tom Schara.

Jeannette is survived by daughters Lynda (Dennis) Dinardi, Cheryl (Wade) VanEvery, and Della (Buck) Van Horn, her grandchildren: Aaron (Patty) Dinardi, Brent Dinardi, Heidi (Daniel) Sikveland, Jake (Susan) VanEvery, John (Shannon) VanEvery, Amanda (Andy) Evanson, Samantha (Michael) Vaira, & Tina (Nate) Paine; her great grandchildren: Wyatt Bosch, Abby & Aeden Dinardi, Jacoby Dinardi, Morgan Dinardi, Taylor & Ryleigh Sikveland, Cooper & Wilson VanEvery, Kenzley & Mallory VanEvery, and another great grandson expected in May.  Jeannette is also survived by a Godson Lonny Jensen and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Circle. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at at the First Lutheran Church in Circle. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery. SO SORRY TO HEAR OF JEANNETTES PASSING. WE WERE CLASSMATES IN TERRY A MILLION YEARS AGO. WE GRADUATED 8TH GRADE TOGETHER. I HAVE A PICTURE OF THE CLASS, AND I CAN SEE SHE HASN’T CHANGED A BIT. WE WERE PRETTY GOOD FRIENDS THEN AND I’M SURE WE WOULD BE TODAY IF LIFE WOULD HAVE KEPT US CLOSER. I WRITE THE FOG ON THE CALENDAR, CHECK THE BERRIES ON THE EVERGREENS , AND SINCE I LIVE IN THE COUNTRY I LISTEN FOR THE MEADOWLARKS TOO. I’M SURE SHE IS WATCHING FOR THE ANGELS.

To the family of Jeannette, words cannot ease the pain that most of you are feeling right now but you have memories to hold onto and share with the next generation and those to come. I remember Dale and Jeannette back in the early 70’s at the square dances our folks went to, brandings, and how involved they both were in the VFW back in the day. I truly enjoyed your parents and your mother was probably the nicest woman in the county. Jeannette was definitely one of a kind and will be surely missed by anyone who had the privilege of meeting and getting to know her. My sincerest condolences go out to each and every one of you. Rest in peace, Jeannette, rest in peace.

I am so glad that Tom & I had such a nice visit with Jeannette last May. She cooked us a fabulous lunch and we spent about 3 hours just looking at pictures and talking of old times. The memories that will always be with me are square dances, cards, bowling, Christmas Eve every year at our house after church, Lutheran Church events, family gatherings, branding, feeding bum lambs, collecting eggs, the list goes on and on. I always felt like “one of the girls” whenever I stayed with all of you. Such precious memories of fabulous people.
