Jean Marie Kildare Craycroft, 83, passed away in the early morning of May 15, 2025, at Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City. She was born on April 4, 1942, in Miles City, MT to John (Jack) Anderson Kildare and Myrtle Bell Cain.
Jean attended schools in Miles City and Oregon, before graduating from Custer County High School in 1960. She lived in Wisconsin for a year with her Aunt Edith and her children, forming cherished bonds with family.
In 1963, she moved to Portland, Oregon, where she began a career with Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone and later worked for United Airlines. It was during these years that she met and married Robert Craycroft. Together, they raised two children: a son, Stephen Craycroft, and a daughter, Kelly Ann Craycroft.
In 2005, she returned to her roots in Miles City, Montana. There, she found purpose and community through her work at the VA Medical Center and later with Hometown Real Estate.
Jean is survived by many cousins and close friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert; children Stephen and Kelly Ann; her parents; sister Bessie Ann Wetherelt Callan; and her brother James H. Kildare.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Jean’s name to the Custer County Fund for Animals, 519 Main St. #104, Miles City, MT 59301.
No services are planned.
