Jeff Landers, age 62, of Miles City

May 13, 1953 – February 16, 2016

Jeff Landers, age 62, of Miles City, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Holy Rosary Hospital.

Jeff was born on May 13, 1953 in Hot Springs, South Dakota to Harry Dean “H.D.” and Margaret (Nehren) Landers. Jeff attended Tepee Creek County School at Hot Springs, SD. In the spring of 1963, he moved with his family to a ranch at Sand Springs, Montana. He attended Garfield County Elementary school and high school. He was active in 4-H, livestock judging and enjoyed rodeo.

After graduation, Jeff started taking flying lessons and got his pilot license. In 1975 Jeff moved to Miles City to help his father run their newly purchased land. Jeff went to his usual “favorite” place the Bison Bar where he met his soon to be wife, Dalice. They were married on November 12, 1977. Jeff and Dalice enjoyed many things together including traveling to rodeos together, buying horses and enjoying time on their place south of Miles City which they bought in 1983.

He owned and operated The Land Company for over 20 years. The Bucking Horse Sale Committee was something Jeff enjoyed for many years along with their 20+ years of hosting a bus to travel to the NFR down in Las Vegas. In 1983 they welcomed their first son, Tyler, and following in 1986 there second son, Jade.

Jeff was a main contributor to helping start the Miles City Wrestling Club building and being active in the 1995 cattle drive. He had a big heart for many animals including Dugen, Rex and Morris were some of the favorites that filled his stories. Jeff also loved spending time hunting, fishing and spending time with his sons, wife and his grandson.

With a heavy heart he will be missed by his wife Dalice, his two sons Tyler and Jade (Kyleigh) and grandson Kash. He is also survived by his sister Anita (Bert) Murnin and his brother Mike (Pat) Landers. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Margaret and infant sister Nancy Jean.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Bible Church. Interment will follow in the Old Calvary Cemetery. Mom said she will miss not seeing him come in and get his Patty Melt with French fries at the Boardwalk in his way home. She said he would always call and say, “This is Jeff,” and they always knew it was him. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers.
