In Memory Of

Jeff “JT” Wilson, age 45, of Busby

December 1, 1979 – April 25, 2025

On April 25, 2025 our world crumbled when we got the devastating news that our beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and nephew had passed away.

Jeffrey “JT” Travis Craig Wilson, was born on December 1, 1979. He came into this world and immediately was the source of unconditional love that was so powerful and encompassing that it made everything else pale in comparison. With his head full of blonde curls, he was everyone’s favorite, “living doll”. There is a theory that he was a late walker because he never got the opportunity to try with everyone always wanting to carry him around.

He had the voice of an angel, scoring a perfect score at the State Music Festival singing “Ave Maria”. At his high school graduation he performed the song, “Imagine” by John Lennon, which was so fitting for the acceptance he longed to have amongst his peers. Music was a huge part of what made JT tick. Everything he did involved music in one way or another. His voice had this vibrato that you could feel in your bones—even his humming, which he was constantly doing. I think we all will miss the music that JT brought into our lives.

JT had this gift to make every person around him feel like they were the most important person in the room. He loved to tell people how fabulous they looked and gave such detailed compliments that you knew he was actually seeing you. His attention felt like the warmth of the sun on your skin. We believe he was so good at giving compliments because all he wanted in life was to be seen and accepted for who he was. This ability to make a person feel important was particularly felt by his mom, dad, sisters, brothers and his nieces and nephews. “Big Abu” and “Uncle JT” were titles he wore proudly and his family will miss his infectious energy immensely.

JT had a handful of career choices ranging from a gas station attendant, where he could get your windshield factory-level clean …to a server that was always making a lasting impact on the customers dining out. But his calling was being a hairstylist. Every person who sat in his chair talked about how he made them feel beautiful even before he started and once he was done you believed in your soul, that you were beautiful.

JT was a proud member of the Northern Cheyenne Nation and a 6th generation of Chief Dull Knife. He is flying over the Milky Way to meet his relatives on the other side. He was loved so dearly by all of his family and friends and will be sorely missed.

To honor our beloved JT, the family requests that those attending his services wear a color JT has either told you that you looked “fabulous” in or an outfit that reflects his rainbow personality. We would like to extend a deep, heartfelt thank you to all of the people in his life who have shown him love, compassion, guidance, direction and most importantly acceptance. Special thanks to his pallbearers and honorary pallbearers, in addition to Tim Dove, Thomasine Woodenlegs, Carlene Gondora, Sharon Small and his neighbor friend Sara Goetz.

JT is survived by his dedicated and loving parents, Calvin & Roxanna Wilson, his siblings Brittani (Jeff) Mahoney, Megan (Braydon) Sinclair and Chance (Hannah) Wilson. His nieces and nephews: Finley, Kanin and Archer Mahoney; Scottie Sinclair; Hendrix, Ellis and Roman Wilson. His special cousin Tempe (Jason) One Bear and her 5 children; Canzas, Kiana, Kennedy, Keilani and Roger Jr. His grandmother, Barbara “Marie” Wilson. His uncles and aunts, Jeff (Pat) Wilson and family; Wendy (Mark) Ciarrocchi and family; Tim (Renee) Wilson and family; Becky (Jeff) Andrade and family; Robbie (Ida) One Bear and family; Richard (Bridgette) Spang and family; Henry (OT) Thompson;  Bitty Wick, Scott Williams and family; Lori One Bear and family; Merle (Maria) Big Head and family; Beaver (Jodi) TallBull and family; Patsy (Adrian) Foote and family; Bridgette Grendahl and family; Lynette Big Head and family; Juanita Spotted Elk and family; Patleen Stewart and family; Bunny (Panzy) Hiwalker and family; Kim Hiwalker and family; Naomi One Bear Partida and family; Jr Boy One Bear and family; Judy (Dean) Allen and family; Robin Spang and family; Kathy (Ronnie) Beartusk and family; Allan (Joleen) Spang and family; Francine (Rusty) Spang-Willis, and all the Wilson, Fisher, and One Bear cousins.

Our family is very large please forgive us if we did not mention your name.

JT is preceded in death by his Great-Grandmother Maggie Seminole One Bear, who he had a special relationship with; Great-Grandpa James One Bear; Grandpas Mickey One Bear; Willard Wilson and José One Bear; Grandmas Carol, Barbara and Phoebe One Bear, Dolly Hiwalker and Geraldine Fisher; Uncles Terry and Harry One Bear, Wayne and Charles “Chucky” TallBull; Aunts Carmie One Bear Williams, Henrietta “Hank” Bear; Cousins Waylon and Carla Big Head; Clayton and Carl Big Head; and Wade Gray.

Oh, my dear one. My heart is broken to hear of your sudden passing. I was truly blessed to know you—not just as a family friend, but as someone whose light touched so many. You had a spirit that shone so brightly, even when you couldn’t always see it yourself.

Now we are left grieving, trying to make sense of a world without you in it. I’m praying for our family and all your loved ones, that we may find strength in one another, and healing in the memories of your love, laughter, and the joy you brought to our lives. Be at peace.

I haven’t been able to find the words to express how much Jeff meant to me. My grief is a mere fraction of the grief that everyone he ever shined his light on is feeling. Jeff was a star, full stop. He was also an incredible artist, whether he was using hair, photography, words, or music as his medium. He loved to create beauty in this world, and I’m comforted in knowing that the beauty he created will live on. I’m sending so much love to the Wilsons, Sinclairs and Mahoneys.

Oh my friend. How I will miss our chance encounters and random text messages whenever “Hot Child in the City” was playing on the radio. The shenanigans while we were working in the salon were legendary. Watching Grey’s during slow days, you teaching me how to do the ultimate blowout with nothing but a blow dryer and a round brush. Letting me practice giving you straight razor shaves after barber school. I loved watching how your family loved you. How your eyes lit up when you got to be an uncle. You were a shining star in the universe and I will miss you.

Wilson family and all who knew Jeff. I’m very saddened to hear of this loss. I have such fond memories of Jeff while growing up. Rollerblading and racing in his basement, horseback riding, learning to drive the International Scout on the ranch, and band of course. You will be missed.

Yes, JT touched our lives, too, in Colstrip, many years ago when he and my daughter Terra – were friends. We dubbed him – ‘Teddy Bear’ for the gentle spirit he had. What a lovely telling of his life. That will warm JT’s heart for years to come. May God be blessing him with eternal peace.
