In Memory Of

Jerome “Bob” Gordon, age 61, of Miles City

April 21, 1953 – September 16, 2014

Jerome “Bob” Robert Gordon of Miles City passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday September 16, 2014 in Glendive Montana.

Bob was born on April 21st, 1953 in Lewistown Montana to John and Ann Gordon the fifth of six children. He went to school in Lewistown, Montana and graduated from Roundup High School in 1971. He excelled in sports throughout his schooling especially basketball in High School.

He married Pam Harper in Roundup in 1971 and to the union his son Lance was born. They later divorced. He married Diana Eckart on September 6th 1975. They had just celebrated their 39th Anniversary. On July 22nd 1985 Levi Gordon was born.

His first job was at the Conoco Station in Roundup where his relentless work ethic started and continued 43 years. In 1973 he began his drilling career with Whinnen and Wardlaw Drilling. In 1976 he went to work for Eckart Construction working alongside his Father in-law Oliver, and his Brother in-laws Larry, Bill and Gary. In 1996 Eckart Trucking and Gordon Trucking were formed and Bob worked side by side with Bill until the time of his death. Bob was known throughout the construction industry and had many lifelong friends he met working across Montana and many other states. Bob never met a stranger and his boisterous laugh will be remembered by many people.

During his “free” time Bob enjoyed going to garage sales, pawn shops and he never passed an auction he didn’t attend. Family was very important and always wanted everyone to get together no matter where it might be. He enjoyed his morning coffee session at the 600 Cafe with his friend Bill Champion along with many others. Or at the local truck stop cafe he might be working near. Bob also enjoyed restoring cars and his pride and joy was a 1941 Dodge Powerwagon Command Car he recently restored with Howard Syring and looked forward to taking it car shows when he had the time. In recent years Bob enjoyed spending his winters in Arizona. Bob also enjoyed scrapping iron throughout eastern montana and hauled in many loads of scrap to the to his friends at the local recycling centers.

Bob is survived by his wife Diana of 39 years, his sons Lance (Roni) Gordon, and Levi (Megan) Gordon; his brothers John, James (Chris) and Jerrold (Kathy) and sister Carol (Don) Waite; two Grandsons Eric and Aaron Gordon and a grandchild Kimber on the way; his brothers-in-law Larry and Bill and wife Donna Eckart; sister-in-law Babe and husband Don Pisk. Bob is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents John Gordon and Ann Hayworth. A brother Larry Joe. His in-laws Oliver and Helen Eckart, and a brother in law Gary Eckart.

Bob helped me to get confidence in myself to become a better truck driver. He knew people how they worked and learned. Patiently he helped me. I always thought Bob reminded me of John Wayne. Last time I got to visit him was in Glendive. I told him the problems I was having at work. He always had an open ear. He gave me great advice. It was heartbreaking news to hear he was gone but he will never be forgotten. .prayers and hugs sent to everyone that was left behind:, (
