Interment: will follow at the family lot of the Custer County Cemetery.
Joan Irene Bradley, age 60, of Olympia, WA formerly of Miles City joined her parents in Heaven on Thursday, May 5, 2005 with her son and sister at her side.
Joan was born on January 21, 1945 to Marjorie (Anderson) and John Harris Brad Bradley in Havre, MT. When she was 3, the family moved to St. Cloud, where Brad was a machinist during WWII. In 1948, her father passed away and through friends in Havre, Marge got a job as a secretary at Fort Assinniboine, and Marge, Pat and Joan moved back to Havre where she started working in September, 1948. That is where Marge met Joseph Urick. Pat and Joan chaperoned the courtship, and soon Joe gained the love of Marge and the girls, and they were united as a family on November 29, 1950 in a small church in Belt, MT. In 1961, the family moved to Miles City and Joan began school at Sacred Heart Catholic School where she graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1963. On September 8, 1971, Joan began working for the Holy Rosary Hospital in Medical records, where she worked for almost 27 years and was a member of the Lamps. On June 14, 1975, her only son, and pride and joy, Scott, was born in Miles City. In the summer of 1998, Joan moved out to Olympia, WA where she would continue her work as a medical transcriber from her home.
Joan was always so humble and sweet. She was the last person to ask for anything but the first person to give to anyone who needed anything. Joan enjoyed reading and the occasional fishing outings with Scott and his friends. She loved to watch Scott play sports and was always cheering him on from the stands. She was his biggest and most loyal fan-always. Joan spent much of her free time visiting at her Mom and Dad's house. She loved to sit on their front porch and listen to the "bubbler" water fountain. Her passion in life was loving and taking care of Scott. Joan was an amazingly strong and independent woman who was always a quiet presence in each of our lives.
Joan is survived by her son Scott Bradley, of Billings, MT, her siblings; Patricia (Bob) Fuhrman, of Richland, WA, Joseph "Jay" (Connie) Urick of Hilger, MT, Mary (Fred) Wambolt, III of Miles City, MT, Steve (Jackie) Urick of Stanford, MT, Kathy (Rob) Bird of Bismarck, ND and Carol (Don) Switzer of Richey, MT, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and many wonderful friends.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents John Bradley (1948), Marge (2004) and Joe (2005) and by an infant sister Kay Charlotte.
