In Memory Of

Joan Brown, age 93, of Terry

July 14, 1930 – June 4, 2024

On the morning of Tuesday, May 4th, 2024, Joan Elizabeth (Trask) Brown, age 93, peacefully passed away at the Prairie Community Hospital/Nursing Home. She was born July 14th, 1930 to Lyman and Emelia (Arnoldt) Trask, the 2nd of 7 children.

Joan grew up in the Terry area and attended Terry Schools. In 1949, Joan married her high school sweetheart Dale Brown and they moved to the ranch 30 miles from Terry. Together they built a life on the ranch. They raised two children Michael and Shawnee. Dale and Joan semi-retired in 1998 and moved to Terry, where Joan worked part time at the FSA office for a time.

Joan was a homemaker, very involved in Cowbells, Sagehens Homemaker Club and sewing club.

Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years Philip Dale Brown, her daughter Shawnee Fowler, parents Lyman & Emelia, and sisters Joyce Lambi & Janice Kaul.

Joan is survived by her son Michael (Diana) Brown of St. George, Utah; son-in-law R David Fowler of Terry, Mt; grandchildren Trilby (Leif) Cox, Branden (Tiffany) Brown, Jeremy (Kalli) Fowler and Jenny Miller; great grandchildren Peyton & Jurgen Cox, Adelle & Aria Brown, Witt Fowler and Logan Miller; and siblings Dick (Kathy) Trask, Jean Brown, Judy Trask & Mark (Patty) Trask.

The family asks that any memorials be sent to the Prairie Community Hospital/Nursing Home as they took such wonderful care of Joan the last few years of her life.

Mike…It was such a pleasure to have been a small part of Joan’s life. She was fun, nurturing, and took such good care of all the kids who hung out with you and Shawnee. I will always remember her kind and generous heart.

Our deepest sympathy to Joan’s family… Dale’s too.
They were our neighbors and. friends. So many memories of going to Whitney Creek School with Mike & Shawnee, card parties, picnics and just fun times. Joan was a special mom to us all and later a dear friend. She’s at peace now with Dale & Shawnee…. Blessings to all of you.

We have so many great memories of Aunt Joannie. From the care bear baby blankets to the stick animals ( who sews a stick pig? It was the favorite riding animal at our house for years). Aunt Joan’s meals were also favorite memories. Cameron used to call her from Virginia to get her recipe for something he was hungry for. Her house was a destination for our kids when they were growing up. She always had some treat from the freezer for them. One time it was rainbow sherbet but they couldn’t remember the word sherbet so they always asked for “rainbow trout ice cream”. She got such a kick out of that! What a giving woman!
