Joan LaRae Wetsit, age 32, of Wolf Point, MT went home on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point with her family and friends by her bedside.
Joan was born June 22, 1975 in Glasgow, MT to Elvira (Mahto) and George Bootsie Wetsit, Sr. She attended schools in Wahpeton, ND, St. LaBre, MT and Chemawa, OR. Joan was always happy and had a smile for everyone. She was a traditional Fancy Dancer and loved listening to Indian music. She enjoyed watching her nieces and nephews with sports and school events.
Joan is survived by her mother, Elvira (Mahto) Wetsit of Wolf Point; a special friend, Mavis Martell, of Wolf Point; four brothers, Dennis (Nancy) Wetsit and Blaine (Sally) Wetsit both of Winner, SD, George Buff Jr. (Nova) Wetsit of Minot, ND, and Jeff (Tamera) Wetsit of Las Vegas, NV; four sisters, Sandra (Mike) Stracener, Georgia Wetsit (Dan), Denise (Loren) Zimmer, and Laurette Wetsit all of Wolf Point; a special niece, Jocelynn Azure of Wolf Point; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Bootsie Wetsit, Sr. a brother, David Wetsit, and special niece, Sayra Mahto.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 15 at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point starting at 2 p.m. with a Vigil service at 7 p.m. Her funeral service will be Monday, July 16, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Father Steve Zabrocki will officiate and interment will follow in Oswego Catholic Cemetery.
