Jobia Janiel Means, lovingly known as “Jobie”, passed away at the age of 26 in Lame Deer, Montana. She was born at Crow agency to her mother, Marty Lynn, and father, Quentin. Jobia was a member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe. Her Cheyenne name, Walks on the Water Woman, Mȧhpévatáxeóhtsé’e, was given to her by her great grandmother Lillian Three Fingers. Jobia spent her early years in Lame Deer, surrounded by the love of her family. She would go on to spend time in Ronan, Billings and Missoula. She later returned home to Lame Deer, where she graduated as the Salutatorian for her class at Lame Deer High School in 2016.
Jobia continued her education and completed courses at Montana State University Billings and Salish Kootenai College. She was intelligent, ambitious, and always eager to explore new ideas.
Jobia was adventurous, funny and deeply caring. She had a creative spirit and a love for sewing, knitting, music, poetry and art. Her laughter was unforgettable–full of joy and warmth. She was quick to make friends and left a profound impact on everyone she met, forming deep and lasting connections with those she loved.
More than anything, Jobia was the best big sister, always ready to help, guide, and protect her brothers and sisters. She embraced her role with love and devotion. She also adored her two pugs, Bambi and Rufus, loving them with all her heart and treating them as part of the family.
At the time of her passing, Jobia was grieving the loss of her soulmate, Toby Labeaux. Though her time with us was far too short, she will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved her.
