In Memory Of

Joe B. Lind

May 2, 1925 – October 23, 2011

Joe Benjamin Lind, age 86, of the Sarpy Creek area, south of Hysham went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Billings Clinic.

Joe was born May 2, 1925 as a twin in Colorado Springs, CO, the son of Joe B. and Beulah Lind. He spent his young years up in the mountains where his father managed Camp Vigil near Cripple Creek , CO and his school years around Colorado Springs and Littleton, CO.

Joe entered the Coast Guard before finishing high school and met Francis Jeanette Hubbard while stationed in Ocean Park, WA. They married July 20, 1944. They moved to Montana in 1946, left in 1952 to live in Iowa and Colorado before moving to the family ranch on Sarpy Creek in 1957 where he raised six children.

Joe loved his ranch where he raised cattle, pigs, goats, rabbits, and cats. He ran a saw mill for at least 20 years. He loved leading Bible studies in Hysham, Forsyth, Decker, and Sheridan, WY. He pastored a church in Decker, MT for a number of years. He always had a listening ear and a helping hand. Nobody was a stranger and he always wanted to talk about his Savior.

Jeanette passed away in 2003 and Joe married Mableanne Robertson on August 28, 2004 in Worden, MT. At that time they each had four sons and a daughter.

Joe is survived by his five children, Lance (Edith) Lind, David (Doreen) Lind, Lawanda (Frank) Mouat all of Billings, Dennis (Gail) Lind of Trenton, GA, and Joe(Carla) Lind of Hysham; Mableanne of Nibbe, MT; stepchildren John Robertson, Kenneth Robertson(Tracy Sausaman) both of Nibbe, MT, Karilyn (Dennis) Kraft of Shepherd, MT, Bradley Robertson of Tukwilla, WA and Vincent Robertson of Renton, WA; 22 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette, son Daniel Eugene and his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideon´s International or to Rosebud Health Care Center.

I am sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. He was a kind and caring man, and my only regret is in not having been able to get to know him better over the years. I am happy that I was able to visit him, although briefly, during his stay in the Nursing Home in Forsyth. I think he has always had a deep and abiding faith in the lord, and I know that he has joined Danny in a happier place.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. He was such a nice man. The picture on this website is just how I remember him. I will always cherish the memory of times spent with your family while growing up In Treasure County. Those were the best of times. With sincere sympathy to all of you.

When the Lord calls our loved ones home, He leaves a gift of memories in exchange. May the wonderful memories you have bring you comfort and peace at this sad time. Take comfort in knowing what a special part of his life you were. Please know that I’m thinking of you, praying for comfort and I love you all very much!

I’m thinking of all of you today, and praying for the strength that you need. I will always feel a connection to the Lind family, because my Grandad Ward homesteaded on your place on Sarpy around 1905-6.
