John (Jack) Burton Grimm, age 79, passed away peacefully at his home near Broadus on Saturday afternoon October 31 2009.
Born August 5, 1930 to Paul & Thelma Grimm at Reeder, North Dakota, he was one of seven brothers. In the forties they moved from the farm in ND to Sidney and then onto Billings. At eighteen Jack entered the Navy and served during the Korean War, stationed in the South Pacific on the USS Bausell his twin brother soon joined him on-board. After his discharge he went into an apprentice program for heavy equipment. He married Hazel Jean Powers; together they had a daughter Jaymee Ann. They were later divorced. He immigrated to Australia, on to Singapore where he worked on an off shore rig. His passion was for heavy equipment and construction. This led to a lifelong career. In 1966 he became a project manager for Morrison-Knudsen and found himself in Vietnam overseeing numerous construction projects for the military and remained there until 1972. He returned home on crutches as the vehicle he was riding in drove over a mine. He returned to Vietnam and other overseas projects one deep with-in the Congo of Africa.
Jack married Marlene (Barnhart) Anderson in 1976 and his days of globetrotting came to an end. He worked for Barry OLeary until 1980 when the family relocated to Broadus to be near Marlenes parents, as they grew older. Jack semi-officially retired in 1996 from Peabody-Coal coal company but would jump in an instant at the opportunity to run a large piece of equipment as it made him feel like a kid again. Jack enjoyed playing pool and woodworking. He had a keen eye for attention to detail that resulted in building fine pool tables and some fine pieces of work for family and loved one's.

My dad was very loving and enjoyed checking in with his friends, brothers, nieces, and nephews by calling many of them weekly. He is greatly missed for his kind nature and ability to strike up an easy conversation with.
