John Collin Miller, 85, of Helena passed away April 1, 2010 of cancer.John was born November 10, 1924 in Judith Basin, Montana to Claude & Sarah (Collins) Miller.
He was raised on a wheat farm in the Judith Basin. His family moved to Idaho during the depression years and then to Helena for his last years of High School.John served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific, on a Subchaser from 1943 to 1946. He returned to Helena after the war and went to work for Montana Motor Supply where he worked as a Machinist for 42 years.On October 23, 1948, he married Louise Chriske. They had three children Yvonne, Carolyn, & Bill.He spent many happy & relaxing hours at his cabin in Elkhorn, MT. He enjoyed working on little old cars with his good friend Doc Alvarez.
John was preceded in death by his parents, & brother Charles (Chuck) Miller.
He is survived by his wife Louise of 62 years, daughters Yvonne (Mark) Paddock, Carolyn (Jeff) Battershell, & son Bill Miller, all of Helena; grandchildren Kirsten (Justin) Tabbert, Paul Thronson, & Andrea Miller. He is also survived by sister Rachael Rosenberger of Hayden Lake, ID. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Kaitlyn & Conner Tabbert; Tyler, Jakeb, & Shea Thronson; & Isabella & Elena Rivas.
Special thanks to Dr. Alvarez, Frontier Hospice, Big Sky Care Center, and Riley his four-legged furry friend. A graveside service will be held at April 11:30 am at the Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison. A reception will follow the service at the Eagles Manor.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lewis & Clark County Humane Society or Frontier Hospice.
