John Jack Dauterman, age 82, of Forsyth passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2003, at the Rosebud Health Care Center in Forsyth.
John was born on November 8, 1920 the son of Joseph and Josie (Roach) Dauterman in Lyon, MT. He grew up and was educated in the Lyon area. Following his graduation John enrolled in college at Poly Tech (Rocky Mountain College) in Billings studying geology. He then worked in the CCCs and later for the Mason Shoe Company. On February 13, 1956 John was united in marriage to Rose Hendrickson in Jerome, Idaho. Together, Rose and John lived in Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana where he worked at various ranches, until settling in Forsyth in August of 1979. While living here, John worked as a ranch hand on the Brewer Ranch. He enjoyed fishing, reading western books, listening to music, and the country life in general. Most of all John enjoyed his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children Earl Stoltz of Locas, NC, Joe Dauterman and his wife Valerie of Forsyth, Brenna Bishop (Wayne) of Billings, Lorie Dauterman (Mark) of Miles City, Sue Hoverson (Kevin) of Lubbock, TX and Penny Dauterman of Forsyth, three sisters Bettie, Rose, and Audrey, ten grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rose, one son Richard Dauterman, his daughter Carletta Olson, one brother Harold and one sister Nellie.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, October 2, 2003 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 1, 2003 from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth.
