John was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 11, 1930. He attended school in Milwaukee, and later attended Marquette College and a Trade School in California. After he graduated from the Trade School as a welder, he worked on the large tunnels that carry water to southern California. John married Joyce Cavanaugh and they had two children. Later he married Patricia McConkey, and from that union they had 6 children. Then on May 27, 1977 he married the love of his life Jacquie Getten and together they raised 5 children.
He is survived by his wife Jacquie Manyen of 35 years, children Penny, Kathy, John P, David, Richard, Suzanne, Thomas, Lynne, Sammi, Sandi, Charles, Frank, as well as numerous grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Rose (Whittington) Manyen, son Dale, siblings Richard of California, Donald, Alvin, Harold, Clara of Wisconsin and Lela of Montana.
John loved his children and grandchildren dearly. He was a great storyteller. His favorite story was of his mother dropping him at school by the front door, and before she could get home he had snuck out the back door and beat her home.
He loved to go hunting, camping, loved to read and watch TV. He was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers and enjoyed watching them on TV. He served in the Marine Corp. In Great Falls John drove truck for Smestad Trucking, Mahaffey Trucking, and after moving to Billings he worked for Corcoran Trucking in Billings.
We will always love and remember you dear Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa and Friend.
