John Scott Forsythe passed away on June 4, 2013.
John was born December 25, 1946 in Glasgow, MT where he graduated from High School. He then attended and graduated from Montana State University with a degree in history.
He moved to Los Angeles to work as an insurance underwriter and this is where he met Sue Williams. They were married in LA and shortly thereafter moved to Missoula so John could attend law school. After graduating from law school, they moved to Forsyth where he served four terms as County Attorney. However, most of his career was spent as a criminal defense attorney. John was passionate about assuring all his client’s interest and rights were represented regardless of their situation or history.
John loved to jog, read, hunt, fish, and work on his yard and house. He especially enjoyed time with his family and playing with his grandchildren. He could often be found wrestling or playing ball with the youngest members of the family long after the other adults were exhausted.
John is preceded in death by his wife Sue, son Eddie, parents Bill and Ruth and Brother Gary.
Survivors are son Johnny (Sherri) of Sauk Centre, MN, granddaughters Molly and Amber of Sauk Centre, MN and Emily of Belgrade, MT, Sister Carol Cotton of Glasgow, MT.

My sincere condolences to the family of John Forsythe – I am sorry to hear of your loss. May you find comfort in many beautiful memories of your loved one at this difficult time. The Bible gives hope that soon Jesus and his Father, Jehovah will end all suffering, pain, and death. (Revelation 21:4) Also we have the hope of being reunited with our loved ones that have died (John 5:28-29). Please take the opportunity to learn about the many comforting promises in the Bible. If mere words can provide any comfort, please know that my heart goes out to you and your girls at this so sad time. Your mother and your father were so loved by so many of us. They were models of amazing courage and profound caring. They are both beyond pain now, but we will miss them–as will you, most of all. Bon courage!

Johnny and Sherri,
It is with saddened hearts that we write this message to you. Your dad (and mother too) were good friends of ours and we cherish the memories we have of both of them in Community Choir, a trip to Mexico, grape picking, wine sharing and much more. It is our hope that they have found each other once again and can eternally live without pain and suffering. Stay strong and know that we share your sadness during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Charlie and Terri Brown

I am saddened to hear of John’s passing. John embodied so many of the qualities that define a truly unique individual. He respected the legal process and exemplified the highest degree of integrity as a representative of that profession. He was intelligent and held high regard for the written word. I was so fortunate to have had many eclectic conversations with him in a attempt to understand the human condition.
To John’s family, grieve his death but ultimately, celebrate a life well-lived.
