John Gustafson

Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at the Bethlehem Church

Interment: will follow at the Bethlehem Cemetery in Gillette with military honors

Funeral services for John Gustafson of Gillette, Wyoming will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at the Bethlehem Church with Pastor Mike Morrison of Mike Morrison Ministries officiating. Interment will follow at the Bethlehem Cemetery in Gillette with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #42, and Masonic honors provided by the Gillette Masonic Lodge #28. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 P.M. on Monday, December 22, 2003 at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel.

John Gustafson, age 77, died on Friday, December 19, 2003 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming of natural causes.

John A. Gustafson was born on September 25, 1926 in Gillette, Wyoming, the son of Alfred and Rose (Williams) Gustafson. He attended country school west of Gillette and Campbell County High School. After his schooling he worked for a seismograph crew locally and in Oklahoma. In 1950 he was drafted into the Army, and honorably discharged on September 19, 1952, and on September 20, 1952 married Ruth Ingle in Indianapolis, Indiana. After the Army he went to work for Western Electric in Indianapolis, Indiana to be a tool and die maker. In 1959 he went to work for IBM in New York and New Jersey. After retiring in 1989 from IBM John and Ruth moved to Minnesota and later returning to Gillette, WY where he worked for Wackenhut and Pinkerton Security providing security for local mines.

John loved being outside hunting, fishing, and taking drives in the country with Ruth. He also loved to spend time with family, for whom will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Ruth; one son, Drew and his wife, Mardy Jo of Burlington, CO; one sister, Joan Shannon of Upton, WY; two grandsons: Brandon of Burlington, CO, and John Austin of Ft. Collins, CO; one granddaughter, Morgan Robinson of Ft. Collins, CO; one great-granddaughter, Annie Robinson of Ft. Collins, CO, and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Herb and Hank; one sister, Carol Dickinson; one grandson, Jason Gustafson.

The family cordially requests that memorials be directed to the American Diabetes Association in lieu of flowers.
