John Bjarne Hoversland was born on February 28, 1924 in Hallock, Minnesota. He moved to the homestead north of Wolf Point with his family when he was 2 years old. Other than his 1 years in the Army and his first two years in Hallock, he remained on the Cottonwood until his death. He was one of 10 children born to Andreas and Marie Hoversland.John enjoyed his life as a farmer & rancher and even after retirement he would spend many hours in his pick-up driving through the pastures picking rock and enjoying nature. He also enjoyed a good conversation with family and friends, reading, horse-riding, horse-shoeing, and playing cards.John had an amazing sense of humor and was selfless in his efforts to do for others. He had incredible skills in playing cribbage and would rarely walk away without skunking anyone he played.

He is survived by one sister Ruth (Jim) McFetridge of Denver, CO, two brothers, Rueben (Mary) Hoversland of Ronan, MT, Art (Dorothy) Hoversland of Middleton, MD, a sister-in-law, Dolores Hoversland of Wolf Point, and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

John left this world for a better place on June 16, 2004 from Billings Deaconess Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lydia (Howard) McClain, and his brothers, Bill, Reinert, Leuvern, Carl, and Hank (LeeBeth) Hoversland.

Those who love him will miss him for his lively discussions and his sharing of a joke or game of cards. There will be a void in many of our lives with his passing.Services for John Hoversland will begin on Sunday, June 20, 2004 with a visitation from 1 to 8p.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point, MT.
