John L. Trusler, age 67, the eldest son of Luther “Buster” Trusler and Adaline “Billie” Trusler, passed away on May 18, 2013 at the Heritage Living Center in Ashland, Montana.
John participated in Boy Scouts and attended grade school at Ashland Elementary and high school at St. Labre Catholic School. He graduated in 1963. After graduating from high school John attended the University of Montana in Missoula for one year. He majored in Forestry. Upon returning home, he bought a small ranch on Pumpkin Creek where he ranched until his retirement a few years ago.
After his retirement he lived with his mother in Ashland, during this time they took the opportunity to travel.
Two of their most memorable trips were to Seaside/Astoria Oregon where Lewis and Clark finished their journey. The other was a cruise through the Alaska passage.
Five years ago due to ill health, John moved to the Heritage Living Center in Ashland, MT. He lived here until his death.
John enjoyed his time at the Heritage Living Center where he had some good times and made many friends.
John is survived by his brother Tom (Suzanne) of Ashland, one nephew, Tom Jr. (Kim), four nieces; Suzanne, Mary, Danelle, and Billie Jo; three great nephews; Thomas Jay, Phoenix, and Aidyn, and one great niece Cherilynn Renae.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Buster and Billie and two of his brothers Stephen and Calvit Trusler.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Heritage Living Center in Ashland, MT. Burial will follow at the Willow Crossing Cemetery. I can not express how much of a pleasure it was to be able to be a part of his family up at the Heritage Living Center, All our home away from home………….everyday i had the oppertunity to work with him and he had stories, concerns, worries…..but he was always quiete and patient, even when he was upset…….ONE DAY HE TOLD ME THAT HE THINKS NO ONE WOULD MISS HIM WHEN HE WAS GONE…………I TOLD HIM “jOHN THAT IS NOT TRUE, I WOULD MISS HIM…………..HE LOOKED AT ME AND SMILED………….I am gonna miss him so much……………John we were there with you when u left us and we will be there until we put u to rest my dearest friend…………….R.I.P AND WE WILL SEE U LATER, CAUSE THERE IS NO GOOD BYE!!!!

Please accept our condolences to all of you. I’ve seen John many times at the Heritage Center. He always was eager to visit. I enjoyed these times of visits. He will be missed. I am glad that he will nolonger need his “wheels” or meds. He is free now and with Mom, Dad, and his brother probably ranching in heaven. I am sorry that I couldn’t be part of the funeral today.
