In Memory Of

John Senrud

Funeral Services: At Johns request, cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date.

John Senrud, age 81, of Miles City, Montana lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at his family home in Miles City.

John was born on June 6, 1925, the son of Thorvald and Juanita (Butler) Senrud of the Ekalaka area. He attended mostly country schools until high school, graduating from Custer County High School in 1943. He never missed one day of school in the entire twelve years. As he was the oldest child in a large family, he spent a lot of time caring for his siblings. They all remember the Big Brother with the greatest affection. John joined the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II, and soon found himself in a battle for the Marshall Islands, where he remained for three years, doing clean up operations. He served as a radio man, directing planes in and out. He felt so bad when a returning bomber would run out of fuel and crash into the ocean, just a short distance from safety. After his discharge, he worked on ranches and had many interesting tales of his battles with the elements.

John was a good and tireless worker, and never lacked for a job. He broke his arm in an accident, and when he was in the Miles City Hospital, met the love of his life, Comoleda Seabolt of West Virginia, who was visiting her sister. He soon persuaded the pretty young girl to join up with him, and the couple was married on December 30, 1957. Soon thereafter, they moved to Kinsey where they had a small farm. John went to work for MDU where he had a long and rewarding career until his retirement. They sold their farm and moved into Miles City where he resided until his death.

Those who mourn his passing are Comoleda, his beloved wife of 49 years, daughters; Lorna (children Season and Willie) Angela (son John Bolwen) of Elko, NV, Andrea of Miles City, MT, sons; Benjamin (sons Bradley and Andrew) of Miles City, MT and Nick (Cherish and daughter Tess Rebecca) of Elko, NV, sisters; Thelma (Larry) Egan of Colstrip, MT, Norma Lawrence of Wisconsin, and Jennie Hutton of Ekalaka, MT, aunts; Lila Senrud of Florida and Merrill Griffin of Ekalaka, MT, and a host of friends and relatives.

Preceding him in death was his beloved son Johan, sisters; Elaine Miller and Gladys Rachel, a brother Robert Senrud and his parents.

At Johns request, cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date in the spring.Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
