John C. Thompson, age 65, of Forsyth, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2003 at his home in Forsyth, MT.
John was born on May 21, 1938 in Sheridan, WY, the son of John and Lillian (Collinge) Thompson. John moved with his family to the ranch on Reservation Creek when he was a young child. He attended country school and later graduated from Forsyth School. Following his graduation, John went to Texas where he worked as a geology surveyor and later returned to Forsyth. John was married to Christie Schenk and together they had two children: Becky and Wayne. John was later married to Karen Scott in Forsyth on February 4, 1977. John worked in construction doing dirt work his entire life. He was a member of the Land Improvement Contractors Association (LICA). John enjoyed flying, skiing, snowmobiling, but most of all John enjoyed working and loved moving dirt.
John is survived by his wife Karen, of 26 years, of Forsyth, his children Wayne Thompson (Dawn) of Bozeman, Becky Thompson-Flatness of Forsyth, Barbara Fulton (Clay) of Billings, David Keyes (Marlissa) of Sand Point, ID, and his grandchildren Dustin, Cody, Austin, Olivia and Slater. John is also survived by his three brothers Gary Thompson (Shari), Dwight Thompson (Sherry) and Charlie Thompson (Mary), as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Kay Lenz.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 6, 2003 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth. Memorials can be made to a charity of one's choice.
