Johnny W. Jone's, age 84, of Belle Creek, MT passed away March 27, 2011 at the Powder River Manor. He went peacefully in his sleep with family at his side.
Johnny was born August 23, 1926 to John P. and Mable Lynam-Jone's at their home in Belle Creek. He attended the Malley School through eighth grade. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing at local dances. It was at one of these dances that he met Anna Atkinson, a teacher at the Thompson Creek School.
Johnny and Anna were married on March 14, 1955 in Belle Fourche, SD. They were blessed with four children; Alvin in 1956, Kelly (Deed) in 1957, and Carolyn and Marilyn in 1961. Johnny and Anna lived in the Alzada area, then moved to Naturita, CO where Johnny worked in construction. In 1960 they moved back to Belle Creek to take over the family ranch. He also trained hounds for hunting. He raised his family on the ranch and continued to live there until a stroke eventually landed Johnny in the Powder River Manor.
Johnny loved running the ranch and hunting and fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He entertained many hunters who became like family and returned every season to hunt on his ranch as well as to enjoy his company. Johnnys family was very important to him, especially his grandchildren, who he spoiled like crazy. There wasnt anything he wouldnt let them get away with, including painting his toenails bright pink. He loved teaching them to ride horses and 4-wheelers and taking them to feed cows.
Survivors include his wife, Anna; two sons, Alvin Jone's of Sheridan, WY, Kelly (Debbie) Jone's of Big Piney, WY; two daughters, Marilyn Jone's of Broadus, and special friend Jim, Carolyn (Robert) Traub of Broadus, MT; one sister, Mabel of Whitefish, MT; four grandchildren, Bobbi, Echo, Nick and Chantz, step-grandchildren, Telisa and Christel, and twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Denver, Leland, and Marvin; three sisters, Colleen, Gertrude and Wanita.
