Funeral Services: will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Salem Lutheran Church in Circle
Interment: will follow in the Riverview Cemetery in Circle.
Johnny Christian Wolf, age 93, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Monday, July 5, 2004, at the McCone County Nursing Home in Circle, MT.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Circle. Services will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Salem Lutheran Church in Circle with Pastor Nelson officiating. Committal will follow in the Riverview Cemetery in Circle.
Johnny was born on July 23, 1910, at the family home in Hazen, ND, the son of Johann Jacob and Katherina Morast Wolf. Johnny came to the Circle area in his early twenties, his dream was to be a cattle rancher. He worked for a local rancher for a while, and then he went to work on the construction of the Fort Peck Dam and worked there for several years until the end of 1939. On October 1, 1939, Johnny married the love of his life, Martha Marie Gebhardt in Circle. For the first few months of their marriage they lived in Fort Peck where Johnny continued to work on the dam. Then they rented some land and farmed and ranched near Circle. In 1941, Johnny and Martha purchased the farm 8 miles northwest of Circle along the Horse Creek Road where they farmed and raised cattle, a variety of animals and two sons. October 1, 2003, they celebrated the 64th wedding anniversary.
Johnny had a rich and rewarding life. He was raised in a family of 10 boys and 3 girls. In his early years, he became a good boxer. He loved baseball and was the pitcher for the local team where he lived. He especially enjoyed listening to and watching the Minnesota Twins play in his later years. He also loved to play pool.Johnny always liked to kid and joke with anyone who was around, even up till the last few months of his life.Johnny was baptized and confirmed a member of the Lutheran Church and has been a devoted member his entire life. He had a great love for his Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ, and enjoyed reading the Bible. He found great joy in his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Johnny was preceded in death by his wife Martha of 64 years, his father Johann Jacob Wolf and his mother Katherina (Morast) Wolf, 8 brothers and 3 sisters.
He is survived by two sons, Victor (Rochelle) of Glendive and Larry (Sandra) of Circle; grandchildren, Kris Richardson of Tacoma, WA, Kathy Ulrich of Glendive, David Wolf of Orlando, FL, Cindy Porter of Tooele, UT, Larry R. Wolf of Idaho Falls, ID and Marcyne K. Wolf of Murray, UT; great grandchildren, Victor, Phillip and Payton Wolf of Orlando, FL, Michael and Audrey Clemo of Tacoma, WA, Melanie, Rhiana and Austin Porter of Tooele, UT, Brittany, Keisha and Hailey Wolf of Idaho Falls, ID; a brother Ted Wolf of Hazen, ND and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
