In Memory Of

Jordan Bryce Wolfname, age 32, of Busby

October 18, 1991 – November 29, 2023

Jordan Bryce Wolfname, Ma’heonenah’kohe (Sacred Bear), age 32 was called home to his eternal fishing spot on November 29th 2023 surrounded by family at home. He courageously fought Lymphoma for the last 17 years and remained strong until the very end.

Jordan was born to Rick and Janet Wolfname on October 18, 1991 and became a younger brother to his best friend Shann. He was known to his family and close friends as “Boosa”.

He spent his younger years in the Flathead Valley, attending Head Start and Elementary there. He enjoyed riding the big bus (Greyhound) home to visit Grandma Leona and Grandpa Herman when his mom and dad were on break from SKC.

He attended Colstrip Public Schools from elementary to middle school and met his lifelong friends there. He enjoyed playing basketball and show casing his left handed flare. After one season of Cross Country he decided he liked running inside the gym from one basket to another more and left the long distances to his older brother and sister. He spent his summers at Grandma Leona’s house with all of his brothers and sisters and would call his Auntie Roni’s house every morning to double check that the Brady’s were coming. He loved playing video games, basketball, softball, pool and jumping on the trampoline with his brothers and sisters.

He first became sick at the age of 14 and at this time his brother, dad and Uncle Hank went to Bear Butte to Fast and pray for him and his health. He received his first cancer diagnosis, T-Cell Lymphoma, at the age of 15. He was treated at the Children’s Hospital in Denver, CO and spent many months in and out of the hospital receiving inpatient and outpatient treatments and surgeries. During this time he stayed at the Ronald McDonald house and was constantly surrounded by loved ones including his Grandma Leona, Grandma Rosalie, mother, father, Aunt Gloria, brother, and sister. Denver was a trying time but he also had fond memories of meeting Denver Bronco players, attending Colorado Rockies Games and participating in events held for the Oncology Patients. He attended a prom with his sister where he shared a table with members from the Flo Bots. He also got to meet Tommy and Jon who were his special support during his time at Children’s. After months he was able to go back home to Montana and start treatments with Dr. Kelker in Billings.

In 2008 he relocated with his family to Aurora, CO to be closer to the Children’s Hospital for treatments. His mother also got a job at this time at the Children’s Hospital and was able to always remain close. He attended High School at Smoky Hill alongside his sister and participated in Wrestling during his Junior year. He loved playing pick up basketball at 24 Hour Fitness and spent all his spare time there with his sister and brother. Even in floods or a foot of snow he would convince his dad to drive him and his siblings to go play. He had many friendships he formed with the regulars on the court and enjoyed getting a visitors pass and taking his nephews there when they would visit. He formed a special relationship with his Grandma Rosalie and would fondly look back at this time and would always reminisce. His Uncle Clark and Colorado also introduced him to the Thompson Brothers and began his love of Lacrosse.

After moving back to Busby he discovered his love of Electronic Dance Music and he attended many music festivals with his brothers Shann, Kyle, Will, Buster and Jeremy. His favorite was the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, NV and he looked forward to attending every year. He enjoyed traveling beside his brother and would cheer him on at his Ultra Marathon races. He was an avid hiker and his favorite hiking place was Zion National Park where he conquered Angels Landing. His brother introduced him to boxing and MMA and sprouted his love for the sport and he would cheer on his favorite fighters BJ Penn and Lomanchinko. He was a die hard fan for his San Francisco 49ers and Giants and his favorite three words were Rock chalk Jayhawk.

His great grandfather Henry Blackwolf was a member of the Chief Society and thus Jordan was a Chief’s Child. He held this in high regards and would often help out where he was needed without hesitation, he was a runner during Sundance for his brother Asa Killsontop and assisted his nephew Dorian Pongah. He cherished these teachings and ceremonial experiences. His mom and dad both showed him their ceremonial knowledge and he always knew that prayer and Maheo were above all.

Each year in January Jordan would be ready to participate and volunteer for the Fort Robinson Run. He looked up to his Uncle Phillip Whiteman Jr. and valued his teachings and oral history. His late Grandmother Martha was a direct descendant of Chief Dullknife and every year she looked forward to meeting the runners in Busby and celebrating her birthday with them. Jordan was honored to participate in her memory.

His favorite past time was fishing and he could often be found at Crazy Heads, Willow Creek or out on the boat with his Uncle Marlin. He found peace and solitude on the water and enjoyed taking his niece and nephew with him every chance he got. His favorite place was beside his mom from traveling, playing beside her in handgame tournaments, to daubing bingo cards beside her at Charging Horse Casino.

He had a special bond with all of his nieces and nephews. It began with his niece Deanna who was at Grandma Leona’s house with him when he had to stay home from school being sick. He loved to travel and play video games with his nephews Chris, Clayton, Roy and Al. He loved visiting his nieces Sophie Janae and Sydney Jordan in Utah. He couldn’t wait for his nieces Iriana and Ionie to wake up in the morning and was so excited to welcome Shann Jr. and Maddux to the crew. He always found the energy to make time to play with each of them. He had an extra special bond with his nephew Willis whom he helped raise and is his namesake. Often times when Willis wasn’t with his mom he was most likely with Boosa at Grandma and Grandpa’s house.

He is survived by his parents Rick and Janet Wolfname, brother Shann (Ivy) Wolfname, sisters Ricki Lee (Ryan) Wolfname and Kiann (Lawrence) Littlebear. His Grandpa Michael (Vickie) Bearcomesout. His Grandma’s Rhoda Bullcoming, Doris Limberhand, Rynalea Whiteman, Joyce Knowshisgun, Rosalie Tallbull of Denver, CO and Bernice Mast of Winnebago, NE, Phyllis (Llevando) Fisher, Mary Ann Russell, Serena (Wayne), Esther, Shirley and Annette. And cousins Jewel Beth and Chase Yellowrobe, Audrey Fisher, Larry and Teisha Bigback, Ty, Shawn and Tony Wolfname Jr.

The family would like to thank Maryann Farris-Sattler, MTUPP, the Frontier Cancer Center with a heartfelt thank you to all the staff including  Dr Christiansen, Cathy his social worker, Amber his nurse, and Jorden his Tech. His Denver Healthcare Team Dr. Schade, and Jocelyn, the staff at Sure Stay Hotel with a special thank you to Rhea. St. Vincent Wound Care Center, Dr. Dornback, and Kira.

He loved traveling and seeing places and would often point out the beauty of these places after seeing it in the perspective of a cancer survivor and he always found the positive in every situation. He had a one of a kind sense of humor and contagious laugh and you’d often leave his company with a cramp from laughing to hard. He was wise beyond his years and would often tell you what you needed to hear but would do it with a smile on his face. He will be missed beyond words, he was “our Boosa” which translates to Our Universe. He was everything and we will live a better life having had him in it.

In the words of his favorite soccer team the Liverpool Football Club… “you’ll never walk alone.”

We are sorry if we missed anyone, Jordan comes from a large family including: Limberhand, Harris, Kinzel, Blackwolf, Knowhisgun, Bullcoming, Whiteman, Spang, Brady, Shoulderblade, Flying, Seminole, Walksalong, Busenitz, Redbird, Lovato and OldElk.

The family would like to thank all those for their prayers, donations and kind words during this time.

to a very special young man whom I got to know. He lives up to his Cheyenne name Ma’heonen’kohe. I asked him” When you got better did you enjoy your life? he said yes. He said he was tired. So we prayed for comfort and I blessed him. I would wake up each morning at 4 to say a special prayer for all the cancer patients. This young man is also the grandson of Chief Dull Knife. As my sister Rubie Sooktis would say, This place is not our’s, we are just passing through! the journey was hard and good and he remains strong, Medicine Bear will live on, and it will go to one of his nephews. Such a powerful name he had. I will remain strong and continue to work with cancer patients to find a way to help family members and their loved ones who have cancer.

What a beautiful tribute to your son. If we all could leave this earth having touched so many lives with heartfelt laughter, wisdom “beyond our years”, endless friendships and a loving family like Jordan’s..wow…this world would exist solely in goodness. I am so sorry Jordan’s life was cut short, but even more so that he had to deal with the pain of lymphoma for so many years. We have all been blessed by your love for Jordan and his love for you. May it be contagious. Wishing you peace.

I think of you everyday and wish you were still here just to say hello, or give you a hug or laugh about something random. miss and love you.
