Our precious Joseph (Joe) O. Boyd, age 33, went home to be with His Savior on Thursday, November 13, 2003 as the result of a car accident.
Joe was born July 13, 1970 in Poplar, MT. He attended Poplar Schools and graduated in 1989. For many years, Joe traveled with his family, The Boyd Indian Family, across American and Canada ministering in music and word on many Indian reservations and in many churches. In 1992-93, Joe attended Nashville Tech in Nashville, TN for sound, audio, video, and photography. By the late 1990s, Joe helped his dad, Wayne with Iron Ring Sound. During his lifetime, Joe became a seasonal firefighter, a fish and game warden for the Fort Peck Tribes, a Head Start bus driver, and most recently a driver for the Poplar ambulance crew.
Joes life was most rewarding attending his boys and nephews wrestling matches. He enjoyed many sports, especially basketball and darts. From time to time he also enjoyed working on cars.
Joe is survived by his parents, Wayne Sr. and Dolly Boyd of Poplar; his wife, Vermae Smith of Poplar; four sons, Chennaniah Titus, Maschil Zion, Chance Joseph and Joseph Wayne, all of Poplar. He is also survived by brothers, Wayne (Jr.) and Mia Boyd of Pryor, MT, Samson Boyd of Nashville, TN; adopted brothers Phillip (Brenda) Hamilton of Auburn, WAS, and Anthony (Kim) Martin of Nashville, TN; sisters Debi Boyd (Faron) of Poplar; Valerie Boyd of Phoenix, AZ; Jodie and Machelle Boyd of Poplar, Waynette Boyd and (Donald) Weinberger of Poplar, and Sharon (Ash) Kidman of Albuquerque, NM; nephews: Habakkuk, James and Canaan Uriah Boyd and Donald Weinberger IV, all of Poplar; nieces: Hannah and Gabriella Boyd of Poplar, Madison Emily Kidman of Albuquerque, NM; and many uncles, aunts, and relatives. Joe was preceded in death by his paternal grandma Florence Iron Ring, and maternal grandma Jeanette Cloud Youpee; great-grandparents William and Meta Boyd, and Moses and Rebecca Cloud, and uncles Lester and Thomas Youpee.
Vigil service will be on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at 7 pm at the Poplar Assembly of God Church. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 20 at 10 am at the Poplar Assembly of God Church. Interment will be in Poplar City Cemetery.
