In Memory Of

Joseph “Joe” Goldade, age 92, of Miles City

January 19, 1930 – May 31, 2022

Joseph Goldade, age 92, passed away on May 31, 2022, at Holy Rosary Hospital Miles City, MT surrounded by family.

Joe, as everyone knew him, was born on January 19, 1930, in Timberlake, SD, to Thomas and Regina Goldade on the family farm. He was one of 6 siblings. He attended school through the 8th grade and later received his GED. He was enlisted in the Marines.

When Joe returned, he married the love of his life Connie June Jaeger on September 7, 1954. In the early years they moved to Fargo, ND for Joe to attend Barber School. They moved to Lemmon, SD where Joe barbered. Finally, they settled in Miles City, Montana and started their family. They had 4 wonderful children; Randy, Debbie, Jim, and Rick. Joe continued to barber on the same corner of Main Street for over 40 years. Joe was an icon at barbering and made thousands of Miles City men and the surrounding communities more handsome with their fresh haircuts from Joe. He also barbered for veterans at the Veteran’s Hospital. Joe was also an active member in the Elks for over 50 years. He met most everyday with the men’s coffee club at Big Sky Pharmacy. Joe volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul for the last ten years. In their spare time Joe and Connie loved to go dancing.

Joe is survived by his wife Connie, children, Randy (Kim), Debbie (Sam) Meadors of Billings, Jim (Jolyn) of Virginia, Rick (Michael) of Arizona, his grandchildren Jetton (Kyle) Ailes, Brett (Wes) Richard, Jessica (Carl) Swanson, Coulton (Susan), Juston, and Janeece Goldade, great grandchildren, Brody and Trace Ailes, Maximus Richard, and baby James Goldade. He is also survived by his brothers Valentine (Regina) and Tony, his in-laws Jerry and Darlene Jaeger, Robin and Jean Jaeger, Mike and Ramona Jaeger, LeeAnn Jaeger and their families and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Val and Mathel Jaeger, his sister and two brothers.

A special thank you to Holy Rosary Hospital staff for all the kindness and care they gave Joe and Connie.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Sacred Heart School. Please, send checks payable to Sacred Heart School with “Joe Goldade Memorial” in the memo to PO Box 1016 Miles City, MT 59301.

Joe was one of my very first barbers when we moved to Miles City in 1986. I loved his shop on the corner of 8th and Main. Joe was a phenomenal barber and a great person to visit with. I was so sorry when he finally chose to retire. I know that Joe’s lucidness was declining, but his wife always helped him get to community events. Miles City has lost one of its great citizens. My sincere condolences and best wishes to the Goldade family.
