He joined the Air Force in August of 1956, where he was a Jet Crew Chief. He was stationed in Spain, Turkey & Italy. While he was in Spain, he had the opportunity to fly in a jet that broke the sound barrier. Joe was honorably discharged in 1960.
He moved back to Miles City, where he met and married Virginia “Ginger” Annalora on February 24, 1962, at Sacred Heart Church in Miles City. They were married for 58 years before Ginger’s passing. Joe and Ginger had three children: Julie Catherine, Jill Ann, and Brian Joseph. They left Miles City in 1966, lived for a time in Salt Lake City, UT, and then moved to Great Falls, MT, in 1967, where they have made their home since. He moved to Hunter’s Point in Helena in May of 2022.
Joe started his career with Buttrey Foods in 1961, working his way up to Produce/Floral buyer for the entire company. After 25 years with Buttrey’s, Joe started a Produce/Floral Business, Superior Plant Sales, out of the family home with Ginger. Joe & Ginger went to Vista, CA, every winter to visit greenhouses and find new products to sell. Joe finally retired for good in 2002. They then began going to Yuma, AZ & Oceanside, CA, every winter for the next 16 years.
Joe is survived by children: Julie (Andy) Younggren, Jill Boettcher (John Allen), and Brian Weiss. We’ve lost another member of the class of ’55. I only knew Joe in H.S. where he was a fine, well-liked young man. I send my sympathy to his family. I know he will be missed but sure you have many great memories.

I always enjoyed visiting with Joe and Ginger when they visited during the summers, often coming over to farmers market. Joe always had a smile and something fun to say or talk about. Lindy always kept me updated on what was happening in the family over the years. Joe and Ginger are back together again! My thoughts and prayers are with you.
