Funeral Service: Thursday, November 9, 2006 10 a.m. Wolf Point Community Hall.
Interment: Oswego Presbyterian Cemetery.
The Lord took our father; Joseph (Joab) Robert Low Dog Sr. (Stripe on Each Wing) home on Sunday, November 5, 2006 at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point.
Joe was born on January 9, 1925 to Guy Low Dog and Jenny Follet. He was a life long resident of Wolf Point and Oswego. He served in WWII from 1943-1945 (Normandy, D-Day, VJ Day, doing tours in France, Europe, Philippines, Africa as well as other countries and receiving medals. He met Yvonne Shields and they married on July 4, 1950. He worked in Fort Belknap, doing irrigation then moved to Wolf Point where he worked in irrigation. He went on to work for Gene Martin for over 40 years at the Wolf Point Saddlery.
Joe loved attending pow wows, playing Keno, poker and horse shoes. He enjoyed taking rides to Oswego and Fort Belknap, listening to Indian and Country music. He loved doing leather crafts for many people, including celebrities. He played guitar and sang in various events and on the radio making his own records. He loved horses, and enjoyed breaking horses in his earlier years.
Joseph is survived by his children; Carol, Joseph (Beezer), Jr., Patti , Jeffrey, all of Wolf Point, Kristen Low Dog of Colorado, and Julie Low Dog of Wyoming. Joe had 24 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.
Joe is preceded in death by his two daughters; Donna and Tamera.
Services will be held Thursday, November 9, at 10 a.m. at the Wolf Point Community Hall. Everyone is invited to a 4 day feast celebration of his life on Wednesday, starting at 1 p.m. at the Wolf Point Community Hall with a traditional wake following and a prayer service at 7 p.m. Interment will be held at the Oswego Presbyterian cemetery.
